Dust off that Spanish II from High School. You are going to need it. And much like when I would speak to Mrs. Lopez, my Spanish fails a bit here and there. None the less... Have a listen to a chat I had with World Series Champion, Washington Nationals Pitcher Roenis Elias.
We spoke a bit about his preparation for the season, especially in this COVID-19 time, and also chatted about his family and his reasons for success.
Have a listen... You can also follow him on IG and if you really want to know what's going on, find his wife. She is great at social media and keeps us abreast of the on-goings at the Elias household, she is found here.

What do you get when you mix a journey that spans several countries, a blonde kid from Florida who speaks Spanish and is cool as hell and life in playing for the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO (The only organization who is playing baseball right now... You get Motter, Taylor Motter. The fun loving guy, a former Tampa Bay Ray & Seattle Mariners player, joined me this morning to talk about life in Korea; what some of the differences are and what it feels like to be playing baseball, while we are all just chilling at home.
Motter plays for the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization. His journey spans stops in Tampa Bay, Seattle, Minnesota, Detroit, New Britain, Oakland and is now with Seoul outfit. You can follow him on social media and learn more about the kid Latinos call: La Pesadilla!
DJ Fluker of your Seattle Seahawks and I connected today. Quick 10 minute chat and rather insightful. The former first round pick of the San Diego Chargers and a 3-time National Champion at Alabama reflects on New Orleans, what kind of cars he wants and most important: Where does he get his dance moves from. Have a listen and follow him on social on: Twitter and Instagram. Also, if you are into gaming, find him on Xbox Live by searching for DJFluker76. Stay strong friends...
Me: Cliff, Cliff, Cliff Cliff!
Cliff: What?
Me: Danger Zone!
Actually, more like Punt Safe - Make sure the Punter kicks it away. Whatever you do, don't push him in the back or you will end up like Johnny Hekker, turtleing. Cliff joins me, and it sounds like we recorded from our individual bunkers. Perhaps we did... Perhaps the quality isn't great. But you have to hear what he is doing, why he is doing it and most important: Does he hate Punters, or just people that hit people in the back?
Follow Cliff and his charity, The Cliff Avril Family Foundation and you can find him on Instagram and Twitter.
My friend Rachel stopped by the pod to talk about life's important things: Sports, Sports PR, Go Cougs and what recruiters are looking for when they are looking at resumes.
Insightful from an industry leader recruiter.
What does Stanford University, The Washington Post, The New York Times, boarding school in MA and the Dodgers have in common? Have a listen to a conversation I had with my friend Ed Guzman to find out...
I had the privilege to catch up with Manny Acta of the Seattle Mariners today. We talked about a few topics. Including, coaching in MTL (Go Habs Go), leaving the Dominican Republic at an early age and acclimating to the United States. Also, found out he is of Lebanese descent, and was ready to talk some Tamer Hosney, but turns out he is doesn't speak Arabic. Low-key, disappointed. Either way, Manny is a great chat and offers great insight into what the team is trying to do and what they are going to do to bring a championship team to the Emerald Seattle.
Have a listen and if you can, check out his great charity: ImpActa Kids Foundation.
Do you speak Spanish? Well, you are going to need it? I spent some time with my friend Gerson Bautista, as we are all on break from Baseball because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. We talked about his journey to the states, his interests (golf), other Dominicans and shared his views on Seattle's prodigal son, Felix Hernandez. Also, why do Dominicans speak so fast? He mentioned even among themselves they need clarification. Which makes me feel good about it.
Have a listen. More athletes coming your way...
