  • Episode 139: John Milton
    00:00 - Introduction
08:30 - Free-for-All (If you couldn't teach in your discipline, what discipline would you want to teach in?)
16:08 - Main Topic (John Milton)
In episode ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-NINE Mike and Wade are joined by Dr. Amy Hermanson to discuss the life and works of John Milton. This episode was recorded a few months before it was released, due to the COVID-19 shutdown of 2020, so it's a bit out of order here, but we trust our listeners will still enjoy the conversation.
A big thanks to Dr. Amy Hermanson for (finally) joining us, despite Peter trying to keep her way!

  • Episode 138: Does Ignorance = Science?
    00:00 - Introduction
05:31 - Free-for-All (Most feared or most likely dystopian reality we might experience)
33:22 - Main Topic (Does Ignorance = Science?)
In episode ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-EIGHT Mike and Peter are joined by returning guest, and local physicist at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Dr. Kerry Kuehn. On this episode the three sit down to discuss Stuart Firestein's book Ignorance: How It Drives Science.
At the end of the episode, Dr. Kuehn and Mike discuss the summer apologetics academy that they co-founded called Blackearth Apologetics. Although the events of 2020 caused them to cancel the 2020 courses, they intend to offer courses again in the summer of 2021. If you are interested, make sure to keep up with them at BlackearthApologetics.com.
As always, a big thanks to Dr. Kuehn for joining us and for putting up with Mike!

  • The Human Touch
    00:00 - Introduction
03:37 - Free-for-All (Most exciting thing during the lockdown Best forms of dueling)
11:43 - Main Topic (The Human Touch)
In episode ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SEVEN Mike and Peter return to the studio to discuss The Atlantic article entitled: 30 Years Ago, Romania Deprived Thousands of Babies of Human Contact. (I think it was that uplifting title that caught Mike's attention.) Before discussing the importance of human contact (especially in the early developmental stages), the guys try to get back into the podcasting swing with a Free-for-All. Oliva, who has joined them for this episode, takes a stab at it, but it doesn't go so well. Fortunately Mike and Peter remember they can talk about "civilized" ways of disputing, so they pull it together.
It's been a bit since our last episode, we hope this gets to be a more regular thing again soon.

  • How about Liturgical Worship?
    00:00 - Introduction
03:37 - Free-for-All (Most romantic means of transportation)
11:43 - Main Topic (How about Liturgical Worship?)
In episode ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SIX Mike is joined by Peter to discuss the role that liturgical worship may serve to answer some of modernity's crises and why the draw to the historic liturgy crosses time and denominations. They take as their springboard the opinion piece penned by Tara Isabella Burton in the May 8, 2020 edition of the New York Times, entitled Christianity Gets Weird: Modern life is ugly, brutal and barren. Maybe you should try a Latin Mass. Before getting to the topic at hand, however, the guys try their hand at being romantic, as they try to think of the most romantic means of transportation (Mike might do slightly better than Peter in this one, but we'll let you decide).
