I figured it’s about time we circle back to the everlasting existential crisis that is turning 30… but this time, with a little perspective from someone who’s been around a few more decades than me.
Elsie joined me on the podcast today to chat about what life looked like at 30, what she sees differently at 84, and how our perspective on life can shift as we get older. We talk about the pressure to accomplish things, the expectations we put on ourselves, and what it looks like to shift our focus from what we’ve done to who we are and who we’re called to be.
I LOVE Elsie’s energy, her wisdom, and the way she lives out her faith in both the big, exciting moments (like walking the Camino) and the everyday, mundane ones (like going to the gym). And while her life at 30 looked vastly different from mine, we discovered that the feelings we carry about life, purpose, and where we’re supposed to be are surprisingly similar.
A little reminder that life isn’t just about what we accomplish, but who we’re becoming along the way. And that there is still SO much life ahead of us.
Also, she had me in tears about 32 minutes in, so brace yourself. 🤍

Why are some people able to tell a story and have everyone hanging on every word… while the rest of us are three minutes in wondering if anyone is actually still listening?
Turns out, good storytelling is a skill.
Today on Let’s Circle Back with Becs, I’m joined by my friend Layne, one of the best storytellers I know, to break down the art of storytelling and what actually makes a story engaging, memorable, and worth listening to.
We’re talking about how to tell a better story, from creating a hook that makes people want to hear more, to drawing your audience in, creating characters they care about, and taking people on a journey instead of just… giving them the play-by-play.
So whether you want to become a better storyteller, communicator, speaker, or just want to be the person at the dinner table who can actually tell a good story… this episode is for you.
If you want to connect with Layne or learn more about their work, check out their website: layneofficial.com
And if this episode made you rethink the way you tell a story, leave your thoughts in the comments. We want to hear them!
Also… with these tips, my ability to share the plane story just got taken to the next level. You’ve all been warned. 🎙️

What if the life you’re working so hard to build isn’t actually the life you want?
This question has been living rent-free in my head for the past year.
My aunt asked me last year, “Whose life are you living?” and I haven’t been able to shake it. So I brought her onto the pod to unpack it with me.
We talk about figuring out what you actually want in life, the pressure to follow the “right” path, seeking validation, social media and comparison, and how much of what we want is shaped by the people and culture around us.
Because sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between chasing ambition and chasing validation.
The career. The relationship. The house. The lifestyle. The timeline.
What if you stopped asking, “Am I doing this right?” and started asking, “Do I actually want this?”
This one might have you questioning a few things. In the best way.

I don't know... does this count as stealing? Or are we just borrowing the blueprint Jesus left us for how to approach everyone from our deepest friendships to our favourite acquaintances? (I've decided to go with the second option. 😌)
Travis joined me on the podcast as we unpacked the way Jesus modelled relationships and what that means for us today. We chat about everything from our inner circle and closest friends to our wider community and even the people we encounter in everyday life.
Leave your questions in the comments, and Trav will be back next season to help answer them!

I honestly feel like one of the lucky ones who gets to call the Okanagan home. 🤍 The lakes, the mountains, the vineyards, the sunshine, the people, I’m convinced it doesn’t get better than this.
In today’s episode, I’m sitting down with Jaclyn from Okanagan Lifestyle and we’re chatting all things community, business, and our love for where we call home.
If you’re from around here, you already know Okanagan Lifestyle. You’ve probably seen a crewneck or hat on someone at some point or maybe you’re even wearing it yourself. As Jaclyn shared on the episode, the brand has given language to our heart for our corner of the world.
I loved getting to sit down with Jaclyn and hear more about how she’s built the brand, but even more than that, her heart behind creating community and connection through it all.
Whether you’re local or listening from somewhere else, I hope this episode makes you think a little differently about how you can build and foster community right where you are.

Josh is so deeply passionate about music, and I love how evident the thread of music has played a role in who he is and who he is becoming.
And, Josh shared so many great song recos that we had to make them into a playlist!! You can find the playlist here if you want to hear the soundtrack to Josh’s life (or if he helped you remember a hidden gem of a song lodged in the back of your brain).
Drop some comments! What is the song that shaped your world?

Any other creatives feeling the tension around AI right now? One minute it feels like it’s coming for our jobs, and the next it’s another weird AI-slop cat video. It can feel confusing, a bit daunting, and honestly pretty unknown.
So I sat down with two of my best friends to talk it through on the podcast. Tash (a graphic designer) and Noah (a videographer) share how they’re actually using AI in their creative work and to grow their businesses.
We talk about what this looks like in real life. Tash shares her perspective on staying in the role of Creative Director and using AI as a tool to bring her ideas to life. Noah walks through how he’s using AI to improve audio quality and make edits that save his clients time and money.
If you’re a creative navigating the shift that AI is bringing, this episode will give you a more grounded, practical perspective.
Curious… is anyone else navigating shifts at work because of AI? Would love to hear how you’re approaching it.

Let’s be honest, sometimes you just want to sound a little smarter on a wine tour. Slightly performative? Yes. Worth it? Also yes. In this episode, we’re giving you exactly what to say on your next wine tour to impress your friends, the sommelier, the winemaker, and anyone else who is eavesdropping in on ya.
Kim is my go-to girl for all things wine, and she kicks things off with a rapid-fire round of her current favourites, including exactly what bottle you should buy next. Then we dive into the real reason you’re here, what to say and what not to say on your next wine tour.
Whether you’re planning a wine tour in the Okanagan, visiting a winery for the first time, or just love wine, this episode is for you.
And okay, quick confession, it’s technically 9 tips. But 9 just felt sad, and “10” is probably way better for SEO and all that jazz. You get it.

This is really an episode for your drive home… Ria is back on the pod yet again!! And we’re doing what we do best, just chit-chatting. We love to yap, we love to banter, and well, we just did it with a microphone today.
In this episode, we go down the rabbit hole sharing truly random facts, reacting in real time, and spiralling into the kind of tangents that feel like you’re in the car with us. If you love lighthearted podcasts, funny conversations, and learning weird, unexpected things, this one’s for you.

I had the most inspiring conversation with Zlata on the podcast, who moved to Canada from Ukraine at 17 for school. In the midst of focusing on her own readjustment and into life in Canada, she also helped lots of families who suddenly settled here since the war started. She has built incredible resilience, and reliance on God and her faith in a lot of times of uncertainty and unknowns.
I’m always so unbelievably inspired by people who start over in a totally new country, and Zlata is no exception. This episode is a reminder of how resilience, faith, and a little grit can shape your life in unexpected ways.
If you love stories about immigration, building resilience, and chasing purpose, you’ll want to listen to this one.
