A Case of on-line Grooming and Murder "The Carly Ryan Case".

Australian teenager Carly Ryan spent months chatting online with someone she thought was an 18-year-old male musician from the U.S. who had recently moved to Victoria. He was a middle-aged predator who became obsessed with her and furious when she rejected him.

When 14-year-old Carly Ryan started talking to a new friend online in 2006, the internet was a different place. MySpace was the dominant social media site. Facebook was in its infancy. Instagram didn't exist. And there was little public awareness of terms like online grooming, cyberstalking, or internet predator.

Still, Carly's mother, Sonya Ryan, was cautious about her daughter's behaviour online. The Adelaide Hills family's computer was in the kitchen, and Sonya would look over Carly's shoulder occasionally to see whom she was chatting with. Among them was Brandon Kane, an 18-year-old Melbourne musician who'd reached out to her after getting to know one of her friends online. There were no red flags. There was no sexual conversation.

On February 20, 2007, a beach walker found Carly's body in the shallow water at Horseshoe Bay in South Australia. The 15-year-old had been lured to the secluded beach, beaten, suffocated, and left to drown.

Her killer was a man named Garry Newman, a paedophile and divorced father of three who spoke to young girls online using more than 200 aliases — 'Brandon' and 'Shane' among them. The security uniform and licence he'd shown Carly's family were fake. He had even used his own stepson to pose as Brandon during phone conversations with her.

When Newman was arrested at his home in Melbourne 11 days later, he was already back online as 'Brandon Kane' talking to a 14-year-old girl in Western Australia. Newman was sentenced in 2010 to life in prison with a non-parole period of 29 years. https://www.carlyryanfoundation.com/

Convicted Paedophiles David and Pauline Williams Linked to Convicted Serial Killers Fred & Rose West. A Sex ring clue' in Rose and Fred West postcard sent to abusers, David and Pauline Williams.

A married couple jailed for a string historic sexual offence dating back to the 1980’s. David and Pauline Williams lived near the Wests in Gloucester in the 1990s. A postcard believed to be from serial killers Fred and Rose West appears to show they were in a sex ring with child abusers David and Pauline Williams.

David and Pauline Williams have been convicted on several charges following a catalogue of abuse that started in Gloucester in the 1980’s and continued when they moved to Devon in the 1990’s.

The couple were found guilty of 48 individual and joint charges stemming over 15 years. David Williams sentenced to life in prison, and wife Pauline Williams jailed for 12 years plus four years extended license on Wednesday 25th November, following trial at Exeter Crown Court in October.

Triple killer Jordan Monaghan murdered his new-born baby girl and toddler son by smothering.This father murdered his own daughter and Son before going on to murder his girlfriend and the attempted murder of another Child.

Triple killer Jordan Monaghan smothered his new-born baby and son to death before murdering his new partner with a drugs overdose. The 30-year-old will spend the next four decades behind bars before he is considered for parole.

On New Year's Day in 2013, Monaghan was alone with his daughter Ruby, aged 24 days, as her mother slept upstairs. He smothered the new born as she slept in a Moses basket. Eight months after Ruby's death, Laura Gray discovered that her boyfriend owed thousands of pounds in gambling debts and told him the relationship was over.

Monaghan took their son, Logan, aged 21 months, to a local swimming pool in Blackburn the following day. While alone in a cubicle in the changing rooms he smothered the child. Both deaths were investigated as sudden and unexplained events, but Ruby’s death was attributed to bronchiolitis and Logan’s cause of death remained “unascertained”.

In the days after Logan's death, Monaghan told the media of his “heartbreak” at losing both of his children as he posed for photos with Miss Gray, their grieving mother, telling reporters “It feels as if history is repeating itself".

In January 2018, he was arrested and bailed on suspicion of murder when Lancashire Police launched a review into the children's deaths after further information came to light. He was on police bail for the child murders when he murdered his new girlfriend Evie Adams, 23, with a deadly cocktail of prescription drugs in October 2019.

Monaghan then faked a suicide note from Miss Adams, discovered apparently by chance falling out of a picture frame as he removed the couple’s favourite photo of themselves to place in her coffin.

Construction worker Monaghan was rearrested in January this year and charged with all three murders, before being convicted of the killings following a 10-week trial at Preston Crown Court in December.

The judge called him "an exceptionally controlling, selfish and cruel man". He was also convicted of two counts of attempted murder in relation to a third child who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Zac Bennett-Eko begged to be sectioned just days before he threw his baby son into a river. Three days after his last trip to A&E, Zac Bennett-Eko took his 11-month-old son Zakari out for a walk in his pushchair in Radcliffe. Eyewitnesses saw him pick his son out of the pram and then swing the boy backwards and forwards before throwing him over a fence and into the river.

Bennett-Eko went to the nearby Lock Keeper pub and sat at a table Immediately after the offence, his behaviour there was sufficiently unusual that people realised the incident must have something to do with him. He told a member of the public what he had done, while emergency services scrambled to the scene to save his baby’s life.

He explained it to the police once they arrived and spoke to him. He was immediately arrested. He was later assessed at the police station by two psychiatrists and found well enough to be interviewed. They also found well enough to be held in HMP Forest Bank. He was later transferred to Ashworth Hospital, a high-security hospital for mentally ill offenders, where he remains.

A serious case review: Zak Bennett-Eko the father who threw his baby son into a river had begged to be sectioned in the days before the tragedy unfolded. A serious case review has been found. Zak Bennett-Eko, 23, believed his son Zakari was "turning into the devil" when he dumped him off a bridge into the River Irwell in Radcliffe in Bury, Greater Manchester, on the afternoon of September 11, 2019.

He was sentenced to a hospital order after being found guilty of the 11-month-old baby’s manslaughter by diminished responsibility. At the time of his sentencing, judge Mr Justice Fraser said the Bennett-Eko had "slipped through the net" of mental health services in the period leading up to the incident.

A review published by Bury Integrated Safeguarding Partnership found Bennett-Eko had been known to the care system but had been ‘lost’ and his needs had been ‘neglected’ when he was moved along with the toddler’s mother, Emma Flood, from Manchester to Bury.

Due to his worsening condition, Bennett-Eko went to the A&E department at North Manchester General Hospital on September 8 , just days before the tragedy. He told staff he had not been taking prescribed schizophrenia medication and asked to be sectioned. It’s known that he had attended the same hospital at least twice before in the previous month, but delays meant he was not given treatment in time.

Three days after his last trip to A&E, Bennett-Eko took baby Zakari out for a walk in his pushchair in Radcliffe, while Ms Flood remained at their flat.

He was later arrested at the pub and charged with murder, but this was then downgraded due to his paranoid schizophrenia and severe state of psychosis. The review found Bennett-Eko had been discharged from a learning disability service in Manchester due to a lack of attendance. It said: "The result was that (he) became 'lost' and his needs neglected by the care system in Manchester, including the key element of a responsible clinician to oversee his medication."

On 19 February 2008, Shannon Louise Matthews (born 9 September 1998), was reported missing in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England. The search for her became a major missing person police operation which was compared to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Shannon was found alive and well on 14 March 2008 at a Batley Carr house belonging to 39-year-old Michael Donovan.

Donovan is the uncle of Craig Meehan, the boyfriend of the kidnapped girl's mother, Karen Matthews. The kidnapping was planned by Karen and Donovan to generate money from the publicity.

Donovan also known as Paul Drak was to have eventually "found" Shannon, taken her to a police station and claimed the reward money, which would be split between Donovan and the child's mother.

Donovan was charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment. Karen was charged with child neglect and perverting the course of justice on 8 April 2008. Their joint trial at Leeds Crown Court commenced on 11 November 2008 and concluded on 4 December with both defendants found guilty.

They were both given eight-year prison sentences. Meehan was convicted of possessing child pornography which was discovered on his computer during the investigation but had nothing to do with the kidnapping.

Amanda Michelle Todd (November 27, 1996 – October 10, 2012) was a 15-year-old Canadian student and victim of cyberbullying who hanged herself at her home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. In October 2012, Amanda Todd killed herself just five weeks after posting a harrowing video detailing the bullying she suffered after photos of her breasts were published online.

On September 7, 2012, the 9 minutes YouTube video titled "My story: Struggling, bullying, suicide, self-harm" was uploaded, which showed her using a series of flashcards to tell of her experiences being bullied. The video went viral after her death on October 10, 2012, receiving over 1,600,000 views by October 13, 2012, with news websites from around the world linking to it. During the video, Amanda writes that when she was in grade 7 (2009–10), around the same time she moved in with her father, she used video chat to meet new people over the Internet and received compliments on her looks.

A stranger convinced Todd to bare her breasts on a webcam stream, saving frames using screen capturing after attempting to do so for a year. This means Amanda was 12 years old at the time of the photos being taken. He later blackmailed her by threatening to give the topless photo to her friends unless she gave him a "show"; she also featured briefly on the faux animated news show Daily Capper on BlogTV in an incident that attracted the vigilante attentions of the group Anonymous after her suicide.

Following an investigation by Facebook's security unit, whose report was forwarded by U.S. authorities to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre attached to the British National Crime Agency, and then to Dutch authorities, in January 2014 Dutch police arrested a man in a case involving multiple victims in the Netherlands, U.K., and Canada, having installed spyware on his computers; "chilling" chat logs of extortion, numerous images of child pornography, and 5,800 bookmarked names that served as a database of potential victims and their social networks were found. In April 2014, it was reported that Dutch authorities charged a 35-year-old man of dual Dutch and Turkish citizenship (identified only as "Aydin C." within the Netherlands in accordance with Dutch privacy laws) with indecent assault and child pornography.

Rebecca Holloway, a "Depraved" mum admits raping two children to ‘satisfy urges’. She admitted raping children in a case described as “one of the most distressing” a judge has ever seen. The 26-year-old had her crimes discovered after police found highly sexualised and exceptionally graphic conversations she had online about the serious sexual abuse of children. She was caught when Lincolnshire Police came across Oliver Wilson during an online paedophile investigation in 2017.

Oliver Wilson was showing "great interest in buying used children’s underwear on eBay." There was a "clear sexual interest in children" Oliver Wilson hoarded children's clothes, and this played a crucial role in a case described by a judge as one of the worst he had seen. Analysis of his phone and other devices unearthed "highly sexualised and exceptionally graphic" conversations with Holloway about the serious sexual abuse of children.

He had been using the dark web over his use of images and there was an exchange of them during online chats with Holloway. Officers investigating Holloway found sexual images of children in her possession as well as a close-up picture of girls’ underwear and sex toys. They then discovered a girl had been raped and another child, an incredibly young boy, had a sexual injury.

Rebecca and her partner in crime Oliver Wilson struck up a twisted relationship and they pursued a sickening campaign of abuse against children. Oliver Wilson told police after he was arrested that he and Rebecca Holloway were sleeping together for about a year and Rebecca Holloway said that they met on the Tinder dating site.

Rebecca Holloway's terrible crimes were first reported in August 2019. Both have admitted two offences of rape of a child, including on multiple occasions, and conspiracy to sexually assault a child under 13.

Holloway also admitted to making and distributing indecent images of children. Wilson also admitted rape, assault by penetration and making indecent photographs of children. In separate offences, Wilson was found guilty at Grimsby Crown Court of 11 charges of rape and sexual abuse of a young girl.

Oliver Wilson was handed a prison sentence of 34½ years and Rebecca Holloway was jailed for 13½ years. Holloway had no previous convictions and Wilson had youth court convictions.

One of world's worst paedophiles forced boys to smile as he raped them. This the Australian true crime Case of Boris Kunsevitsky. Describing Kunsevitsky as a "man of superior intellect with a paedophilic disorder" who showed no remorse, Justice Champion stressed his "twisted beliefs must be clearly and utterly denounced as completely unacceptable in a civilised society".

Australian federal police caught up with him following shared intelligence with German authorities. Boris Kunsevitsky pleaded guilty to 59 sexual offences involving 43 child victims, as well as to child pornography. Boris Kunsevitsky, 53, produced more than 35,000 photos and 4,800 videos of abuse across the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia between 2002 and 2017.

Supreme Court of Victoria Justice John Champion jailed Kunsevitsky for a maximum of 35 years, labelling the paedophile’s appetite for sexual abuse as insatiable and the offending the worst the judge had seen. Most of the abuse was committed against boys in the Philippines, with Kunsevitsky making the boys perform sexual acts on themselves and each other, and filming and photographing it, among other depraved acts.

The 53-year-old will serve at least 28 years of his jail sentence before he is eligible for parole. “This sentence is comprised of the term of imprisonment for the two State charges, which was 11 years with a non-parole period of 8 years, plus the term of imprisonment for the Commonwealth charges, which was 24 years with a non-parole period of 20 years,” a spokesperson for the Supreme Court of Victoria said. State charges refer to crimes committed in Victoria, Australia while Commonwealth charges relate to the crimes in the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore.

Court documents showed Boris had grown up in Russia and migrated to Australia with his family when he was 12. He moved to Singapore in the 2000s. He was employed with local firm Esthemedica, where he was a director selling aesthetic equipment. The company previously told CNA it did not know of Kunsevitsky’s crimes.

In 2019, One of the UK’s youngest female paedophiles was jailed for sexually abusing children as young as two years old. Sophie Elms was just 18 years old, at the time she was sentenced making her one of the youngest women in the country to be convicted of these types of offences, and at the time of committing these atrocious crimes,

she was studying childcare with a long term aim of working with incredibly young children in the future. Sophie Elms, of Royal Wootton Bassett, was 16/17 when she committed offences including sexual assault of a child, distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornographic images of an animal.

Elms was babysitting toddlers when she filmed herself abusing them and sent the images to known sex offenders. The childcare student, who had been groomed as a girl of 13, sent the vile material to at least four men.

Sophie Elms came across as a law-abiding young woman from a 'really nice family' but the Swindon teen had been groomed by men on the internet since the age of 13. Ex-policeman David Geering, 59, met her online in 2017 and seized the opportunity. He instructed her to abuse infant sisters and send images and videos to him.

Teenage paedophile Sophie Elms was groomed online by a disgraced former murder squad detective. And she was also in contact with a respected lawyer who is also now serving a lengthy jail term of 13 years for his offending. Sophie Elms photographed and filmed the abuse, with footage showing one of the victims “screaming in distress” and sent it to two men.

On leaving school, she enrolled at Swindon College, which runs several ‘early years’ childcare programmes, She had done safeguarding training at college. Elms was on a placement at a local nursery as part of a course in childcare at the time, but police said the crimes did not take place at the nursery or college. Elms, a childcare student at Swindon College, was arrested after police traced images discovered on a convicted sex offender's mobile phone back to her.

Her Victims: Sophie Elms, outwardly at least, seemed sensible and good-natured. She had done safeguarding training at college. She ticked all the boxes for the couple who would hire her to look after their beloved children aged two and three years old.

Not in a million years would they have imagined she might harm their little girls, let alone do so sexually.

Sophie Elms was jailed for seven years and 10 months at Swindon Crown Court. The Judge told Elms that the starting point for her jail sentence had been halved because of her age and background and said she would receive specialist treatment.

Elms will be monitored after her release from prison, barred from working with children and put under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The 36-year-old teacher Karan Ellis justifies dating her 15-year-old student and believes she has done nothing wrong and is not a paedophile. In this video I have used a clip from 60 minutes, Australia where Ellis gave a very insightful interview.

The brief of evidence given to the court revealed Ellis had sex with the boy six times in the October and November 2003.

Ellis was a teacher at the school in Melbourne's northern suburbs, where she met the boy. She resigned from the school after a police investigation. Court documents said the boy is now estranged from his family.

Ellis told police that the boy said to her if he was able to score a goal then she would have to kiss him. The pair then kissed briefly on the lips. Afterwards they continued to meet and talk in the stadium's office. On another occasion the pair French kissed for the first time.

"I couldn't believe that we were doing it," the boy told police.

On October 10, the pair had sex in the master bedroom of Ellis' home. They had sex another five times until November 24. The documents showed that Ellis had sex with the boy when her husband was "either at work or away on business".

A mother of three, she initially denied the affair to police saying she didn't want to get the boy into trouble. She said it was more than a "student-teacher relationship" but denied they had sex.

The boy told police the sex was consensual.
