How it came to be, what it takes to produce such a huge undertaking, and the importance of Indigenous fashion on the CFDA calendar. Indigenous fashion is so much more than clothes. Our Global community is the driving force behind INYFW. We aren't asking for permission, but we are inviting you all to witness Indigenous excellence.

This week on the pod, I sit down with Sutton King. An Afro-Indigenous leader, health equity advocate, MMIW activist, and Executive Director of the Urban Indigenous Collective.

Called to New York City with a purpose, Sutton has answered that call through higher education, deep community engagement, and, most importantly, by listening. In Lenapehoking, she has built relationships rooted in respect and has consistently asked Indigenous people what they need, not what others think they need.

Through her leadership, Sutton is creating spaces of care, kinship, and belonging for the urban Indigenous community while advancing health justice and Indigenous sovereignty. She is building more than programs and initiatives—she is building a legacy.

Her name is Sutton King, but make no mistake, she is a Queen!

Patricia Tarrant is the Executive Director of the American Indian Community House In NYC. She is following in the footsteps of her mother and other Tarrant family members who have been hugely responsible for building the Indigenous community we currently benefit from in New York. Listen in as I ask Trish the very important questions like, what was it like partying with Ex New York City Mayor Eric Adams! What has changed since Mamdani has taken office? Patricia lives and breaths the community house and it because of that, that we are flourishing here in the Big City! All the Natives in NY eventually find themselves at AICH looking for kinship. WE find each other and grow together. Thank you to AICH for being the heart of our community

Welcome back relatives! This week on the Podcast I speak with Alex DeRoin, a fellow Osage Okie. Alex is a Two-Spirit artist, poet, storyteller, and awarded water protector. Their passion lies in creating safe spaces in marginalized communites. Where being queer and 2 spirit can be an even more isolating existence. Part of their resistance work is Pioneering the LANDADAISM art movement. A movement that utilizes a unique cross-pollination of indigiqueer ecology and the art of Dadaists' collage principles as metaphor. They co-founded Kinshipmodel.org, a nonprofit focused on civic education and voter engagement in the Osage Nation.

Ha.We Relatives!
This week on the pod, I’m joined by Davy Tiger Cortes, co-founder of Decolonize Sports. An Indigenous-led sports media platform amplifying Native athletes, with a deep focus on lacrosse, also known as The Creator’s Game by the Haudenosaunee.

Alongside his cousin Brandon and brother Dominic, Davy has helped build a space where interviews, photography, production, and play-by-play are for us and by us -with Native athletes and coaches offering commentary straight from the sidelines, before and after the game.

When he’s not shooting lacrosse, Davy works in film and TV production here in NYC, experience that’s clearly shaped the way Decolonize Sports is telling our stories with intention and skill.
Decolonize Sports is a much-needed voice in the sports world-because every press pass is representation, both in front of the camera and behind it.

This week I’m joined by Indigenous drag legends Lady Shug and Oliver Herface, fresh from the First Nations Performing Arts Winter Party here, in Lenapehoking!

From Lady Shug’s groundbreaking appearance on HBO’s We’re Here - the first time I ever saw Indigenous drag on a major network, to Oliver Herface’s work as a Two-Spirit Boricua drag king, producer, and cultural force in Brooklyn, this episode is all about visibility, joy, and decolonizing the stage.

We talk drag, ceremony, community, salsa, sideshow, and what it means to hold space for our people while living fully in our truth.

This week I’m joined by Sun Roller, a true force in production and community. I first met Sunny during Indigenous New York Fashion Week and immediately knew she had a story that needed to be shared.

In this episode, we talk about the many lives Sun Roller has lived, her journey into film and television production, and her work on Reservation Dogs, Poker Face, and The Lowdown. Beyond the credits, Sunny carries a deeply human and generous spirit. Our conversation took an unexpected turn into emotion, presence, and healing, ending with a powerful two-minute solar break meditation that brings us back to breath and the present moment.

Sun Roller often says she wants to be a conduit for good work, and she lives that truth. Whether she’s on set in Oklahoma and New York or supporting women in Africa to gain access to fresh water for their families. SunRoller is truly inspirational and I can wait to see what you do next!

This week I’m joined by Mickela Mallozzi. Host, creator, and executive producer of Bare Feet with Mickela Mallozzi. Bare Feet is a thirty-minute travel series that highlights traditional dance and music cultures from around the world. A professional dancer and trained musician, Mickela seamlessly weaves her two greatest passions travel and dance into a show that is as joyful as it is meaningful. Mickela has been my client for over 20 years, and I still remember the day she first told me about the idea for this show. I knew immediately it was going to be something special. Bare Feet is now a four-time Emmy Award winning series, which comes as no surprise because it truly is that good. The authenticity, joy, and passion Mickela brings to the screen are absolutely contagious. Her newest season shines a powerful light on global voices, Indigenous communities, and the deep human connections that dance creates across cultures. I truly believe dance is inherently Indigenous, which is why I love watching Mickela travel the world while uplifting our Indigenous relatives everywhere she goes.

This week I’m joined by Loren Waters and Tafv Sampson. Loren is an award winning Filmmaker who was recently in New York City for a screening of her short documentary Tiger, A captivating 13 minute film about the legacy of the Tiger family in Oklahoma. The film is Oscar-qualified, and Loren took home a directing award at Sundance earlier this year. She keeps receiving well deserved recognition for her work, but what means the most to her is the support of her community.

Joining her, is Tafv Sampson, a set designer and one of Loren’s closest collaborators. The two met on the set of Reservation Dogs and have been creating together ever since. We talk about how special it is to work alongside other Indigenous creatives, what it means to take the leap from one career to the next, and how we carry our ancestors with us every step of the way.

Hawe, cousins! Welcome to the Music Episode!

There is so much incredible music coming out of Indian Country right now, and today I’m joined by two of my favorite Native artists to celebrate it.

First up, Lucaa calls in to talk about her new single “Feast,” intentionally released this November during Native American Heritage Month and the Thanksgiving holiday. The track is a cinematic clapback to the oppression our ancestors endured and a powerful reminder that colonization did not destroy us.

Next, Mato Wayuhi joins the show to dive into his new album Bygoner. He opens up about what inspired the project and drops some serious gems about the importance of staying true to yourself as an artist and a human being.

 I’m joined by my good friend Stephen, our resident Rosalia stan, to discuss and dissect LUX. Naturally, we couldn’t leave Florence Welch out of the conversation, her new album Everybody Scream is a raw and vulnerable collection of songs that highlight  the unfair realities women continue to face.
