It is essential to help our children feel safe in sharing anything with us, no matter what it is. Predators use fear and manipulation, which makes us feel as if we would get into trouble or they would hurt our mom and dad if we told. We have to instill in our children that even if someone says that, they should still tell.

It's my story to tell, so I'm telling it. Sexual abuse is not okay, and telling is freedom. The veil of shame and secrecy has to be removed, as it allows the predators to thrive and walk around in families, feeling safe.

It has been too long since the veil of secrecy that protects predators within families, which has allowed them to hunt and prey on family members without fear. I am a survivor of a family predator who smiled and danced at every family function because he was secure in the fact that I wouldn't tell anyone. Once I told my family and took my power back, he shrank, and a few years later, when he died, I felt free.
