My personal favorite of all the Coen brothers movies. The humor seems catered exactly to my sensibilities and the performances are pure entertainment, as the actors make such intriguing choices for their characters; in the name of comedy. Not the deepest in the filmography of the Coen's, but one of the funniest of their films without a doubt. Every actor cast here is spot on, I love the convoluted plot that even confuses some of the characters in the story. This movie is a treasure, and once a year watch for me; for sure!

The depiction of a depraved world without hope, that finds a savior to restore them; it's beautifully handled. The choice is handheld cinematography, mixed with extremely long takes in action scenes - it's just a brilliant piece of art from cover to cover.

Damon & Affleck proved that it's possible to be consistent and push a project to its completion; and far beyond. Nominated for 9 Academy Awards, this film broke ground in a way audiences of today's generation might not fully comprehend. Their foresight to cast Robin Williams in this role, is the best decision they could have possibly made; and the rest of the cast is spot on as well. An original and unorthodox way of telling a story, when most of the time the main protagonist doesn't know his own motivations; that's very different.

Damian Chazelle's directorial debut had such impact on the industry, starting at Sundance as a 17min. short film; then funded into a feature length movie. Miles Teller went from nearly X rated party comedies, to advancing himself into serious dramatic roles for the absolute better. JK Simmons won the much deserved Oscar for supporting actor in his ridiculously callous and coldhearted role as Fletcher. What a blend of talent. I aspire to be Whiplash.
