It seems being nice is a lost art.  Offering kind words, handling situations a little differently, and smiling go a long way in our caregiving journey.  This is especially true when we are leaving our loved ones after a visit.  However, being nice goes a long in everyday life!  Let's just BE NICE!

I had computer issues yesterday.  I needed to download LAME to convert my podcast to an mp3.  Sounds easy.  Well IT WAS NOT EASY!  By the time I accomplished the task, I was exhausted and had spent three hours of my day in a state of irritation, confusion, and feeling oh so very tired.  Is that what dementia feels like?  I wonder..... When offered apple pie for dessert this week, Momma refused.  Instead she wanted cookies.  Sounds logical until you hear WHY she didn't want the apple pie.  It made me laugh!  Eating becomes a problem for our folks with dementia.  This episode will shed some light on the subject.
