As the haze worsens across Singapore, some schools have suspended outdoor activities, while others are taking additional precautions to protect students. But with air quality reaching very unhealthy levels and neighbouring Malaysia already closing schools, should Singapore consider doing the same?
On Singapore Unfiltered, we ask whether current measures are enough to protect our children, or if keeping schools open is putting their health at risk. And for working parents, would school closures create more problems than they solve?

What do a 1970s HDB lift, a nightclub chair and a centuries-old mystery have in common?

Shanti Pereira has done it again. The Singapore sprint queen became the first woman to win back-to-back Asian Games 200m titles, storming through the rain to take gold in a season’s best 22.78 seconds. She also returns home with silver in the 100m.
But behind that historic finish was exhaustion, anxiety, sleepless nights and the pressure of defending a title she won three years ago.
Let’s Talk, Singapore, catches up with Shanti on the belief that carried her across the line, how she has changed as an athlete, and what comes next on the road to Los Angeles 2028.

Findings from the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) National Population Health Survey, and the Health Promotion Board’s (HPB) National Nutrition Survey found that 95% of people in Singapore consume more than the recommended daily sodium limit of 2,000mg, up from 88% in 2019. That's concerning, given the links between excessive sodium intake, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke.
But how much attention do you actually pay to the salt in your food? Are you making an effort to cut back, or is it something you rarely think about?

Another Manchester United defeat, another public fallout, and another day of damage control at Old Trafford. Lisandro Martinez has issued a statement after taking aim at the club’s hierarchy, insisting his comments came from frustration and a desire to win. But with no outright apology, reported dressing-room tensions and uncertainty over his future, United’s problems are piling up faster than their trophies. Here we go again!

Singapore has a reputation for being one of the cleanest cities in the world. But how much of that cleanliness comes from people actually cleaning up after themselves?...
After K-pop boy band CORTIS performed at the Singapore Grand Prix, concertgoers reportedly left behind mountains of rubbish, from plastic bottles and food wrappers to shoes and even a stick-on bra.
Let's Talk, Singapore discusses whether we've become too accustomed to having someone else take care of the mess and if cleaning up after oneself is treated as a shared social responsibility from a young age.
