The Winnipeg Police Association told the media that they are concerned for the mental health of their members. The association requested an internal audit to gauge the morale. Did the City of Winnipeg provide a solution? Give you a reason to feel confident that our Public Safety organization is on stable ground? Or did you only see a few quotes? Kevin Klein shows you more from the press conference, provides you with some fact checks, information not covered by the media, and alternatives to address this genuine concern.

Winnipeg has the honour of having the second highest expense account for a Mayor in Canada. The expense account is $1.8 million, just shy of number one Toronto, but more than Montreal or Vancouver's Mayors office. In Winnipeg, that expense account has limited accountability. A motion to make this expense account be transparent, matching what councillors must provide, was voted down at City Council. How can this be defended? Who voted NO to accountability of your money?

During the January 2021 City Council meeting, the topics debated and considered did very little to improve the service to residents in Winnipeg. No policy changes to benefit residents in the future, no programs to assist residents suffering from current closures. It was over seven hours of talk, talk, and political posturing. There was a long debate on buttons. Yes, buttons. A promise of one individual during a campaign. Voting buttons to replace standing up to be counted when a City Councillor votes opposed or in support, City Council debated this at length. But, the possibility of spending over $250 million on new fire stations passed quickly. Councillor Kevin Klein (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood) stood to address his colleagues regarding all the talk and political posturing and shared his embarrassment and disappointment, asking them to focus on real issues.
