In this SOLO study episode tyler leads a leisurely walk through Bensky's release exterior section covering: Ma Huang, Gui Zhi, Zi Su Ye, Jing Jie, Fang Feng, Qiang Huo, Gao Ben, Bai Zhi, and Xi Xin. This episode will review key characteristics of these herbs and help with remembering their qualities!  

The boys look at the five channel systems - Sinews, Primary, Luo, Divergent, and 8 XV - and the spirits associated with the five viscera.  They discuss the qi kou, TCM vs CCM, Hun and Po, the incarnation of souls, ghost babies, and the unbiblical cord.  

In this peaceful and sleepy solo episode Tyler gets into the five flavors as they relate to the organ systems and the elemental cycle.  He touches on how to choose herbs according to flavor, thin vs thick qi, and the basic nature of Bitter, Acrid, Sour, Salty, Sweet, and Bland flavors in Chinese herbal medicine.

Greg and Tyler discuss elemental types and the expression of yuan qi by way of the san jiao mechanism.  

I sit down with physician and teacher Josephine Spilka to discuss life, death, and the spirits.  We discuss Buddhist, Judaic, and Daoist conceptions of passing from this world into the next.  Josephine gives a straight, no-nonsense explanation of what the hun and po are.  We work through the logistics of death and incarnation, disembodied existence, and conception.  She reveals why we should avoid using needles and herbs when assisting someone in passing, and what we should use instead.
