On the eve of Independence Day, we look back to the document declaring our independence as a nation. The Declaration of Independence was written with the underlying assumption about the goodness of God, the providence of God and the dignity of humanity; the document begins and ends with dependence on God.
Contradictory to our thoughts on what if means to be independent, dependence on God brings deeper freedom. True dependence requires an intentional daily surrender of our lives to God. Are we making decisions based on God’s providence for our lives?
