Darlene Ortiz, widely recognizable for being the woman Ice T's Power album joins Tim on The Library this week to talk about her newest memoir called Definition Of Down – My Life with Ice-T & the Birth Of Hip-Hop. She talks to Tim about the iconic Power album cover, her struggles as a child of an alcoholic mother, being a part of and a witness to the birth of west coast hip hop; and Tim shares a story about his grandmother buying him and his brothers bootleg NWA tapes.

Signed by the late, great Eazy-E in 1989, Tairrie B was the original "Ruthless Bitch" of hip hop. She released one hip hop album "The Power Of A Woman" in 1990 and after recording her follow up "Single White Female" in 92, decided to keep her masters and change her musical path to pursue a career where she blazed a trail for female screamers in heavy metal. 25 years after releasing her first album, Tairrie B is back, revisiting her roots with a new self-produced hip hop record—Vintage Curses. She talks to Tim on The Library this week about her latest album, her career, women in hip hop and what drew her to NWA. "NWA was like that, they were really scary and dirty. I just thought, okay I don't agree with all the subject matter but I like the way it makes me feel when I listen to it. It's scary. Good music has to invoke something. Whether it's heavy metal, or whatever it is. It has to invoke a feeling in you. And who's to say what that feeling is or where it comes from, with anything."

This week on The Library with Tim Einenkel, Tim is joined by Jersey MC and Ill Adrenaline Records co-founder Beneficence who has just dropped his 6th solo LP "Basement Chemistry". The album features artists such as: Inspectah Deck (of Wu-Tang Clan), Masta Ace, MC Eiht, El Da Sensei, AG (of D.I.T.C), Dres (of Black Sheep), The Legion, Chubb Rock, MindsOne, and Estee Nack. Tim and the Brick City Veteran discuss the album, working with all the legends on the album and his mission in music. He tells Tim:

"I'm a huge fan of making a great album. I don't look too much for a single. The artists that I pattern myself album, like the Masta Aces, he makes incredible albums...Every last album that he puts out is always dope. So, the songs that I put out I try to make them stand as singles. If you pick any song on my album and promoted it, it can stand strong as a single."

This week on The Library with Tim Einenkel, King Myers. Tim and the Suffolk County, New York MC, discuss his debut LP, Kingology which features veteran emcees like Rakim, Bumpy Knuckles, Dave East and Fred The Godson. "Every song on the album is life. It's definitely true stories and definitely from the heart....Everything is just factual. "

This week on on The Library, Tim's interview with the producer of The Thrill is Gone, Yasiin Gaye, Fela Soul, & Bizarre Tribe; Amerigo Gazaway. Amerigo joins Tim to discuss what he calls “conceptual collaborations”. Gazaway talks about what inspires him to do mash ups, how he comes up with ideas and what happens when a collaboration doesn't work. He tells Tim: "You have to kind of maintain a faith in the process in that something cool is going to happen if you stay focus and you keep playing with the samples or the colors or whatever it is you're trying to create art out of. I think that an important lesson I've learned as an artist is to just keep pushing because it could lead to really unexpected combinations and stories and things you would have never even thought of originally."

In 2011 artist Justin Bua was interviewed on The Library with Tim Einenkel to talk about his latest book, The Legends of Hip Hop. One of the legends he painted was of the late J Dilla. BUA has said this about Dilla: "To enliven the soul of a man through a portrait," BUA said, "one has to be inspired by his subject. I was more than inspired. I was uplifted."

Torae tells Tim: “Preem is a producer and producers, produce. That's the difference between being a beat maker and being a producer.. A lot of people can make beats but to really produce vocals and to produce the song; you know Preem would be like “Yo, I love the whole verse, I just don't like how you said this one line.”
