This week on The Library, part 2 of Tim's interview with Chuck D. The legendary artist joins Tim to talk about Public Enemy's newest album, Man Plans God Laughs." Which Track best defines the mission of the album? Chuck D tells Tim:
" Man Plans, God Laughs. No question. That one record came out of left field as a creation. It was planned but also it came out of left field as a creation because the lyrics were on another record and that original track was something else. Gary made a switch and he made some cuts and edits. The record is 2 minutes and 6 seconds. It's the only record I've ever seen, Tim. Trust me, trust me when I tell you this. I've played 28 years on the road, right? I played records like Rebel without a Pause and Bring the Noise, and Can't Truss and Welcome to the Terrordome and even Harder Than you Think. It's the only record that I've seen that's made a mosh out of a crowd with never hearing it before. It's really strange. I think it's the push and pull in the record. My best description of it is like taking fingertips and brushing it over somebody's chest and then yanking their lungs out and then trying to push it back in. But the thing is on top of that, in 2 minutes...”
