Líderes del Futuro

Dr. Maria Hess dedicated her life to teaching the next generation of therapists during her years at Sonoma State University.  A few years before her retirement from the university, Dr. Hess and two of her former students open up Humanidad Therapy & Education Services that provides culturally appropriate services to the Latinx community of Sonoma County. Dr. Hess is known for stating that "Trauma is the gift that keeps on giving." That is, unless we heal, we are likely to pass our trauma to our children. With these humble words I honor a professor, mentor, colleague and friend. You can rest now, as your students will continue on the legacy that you started. 

La psicóloga Maria Hess dedico su vida a la enseñanza de la comunidad.  Por décadas ella fue profesora de psicología en la universidad de Sonoma  State en el norte de California y también tuvo su propio despacho. Sus  palabras siempre fueron que sanar es parte de quererse a unx mismx ya  que “el trauma es el regalo que se sigue regalando.” Este es un simple  homenaje a una profesora, mentora, y colega. Su legacía continuara ya  que ella entreno muchxs terapeautas que ahora trabajan por todo el país.  Y fue una de las tres fundadoras de la organización Humanidad Terapia y  Servicios Educacionales en el condado de Sonoma. The U.S. has always has had its hands in Latin America and the Caribbean. Now, Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela and other countries are in its sights. This year there are at least $20 million for support to "democratize" Cuba and bring business from the U.S. to that country.  Taxpayers are paying for these types of crimes and yet most don't know it.  

El presidente de Haití fue asesinado y habrá muchas preguntas. En Cuba  protestas para cambiar el gobierno. Los Estados desUnidos son un imperio  que invertirá millones este año para tomar control de Cuba y otros  países de América latina.  Es importante que nos eduquemos porque eso  significara más migrantes quienes sufrirán en la frontera. Sus impuestos  siendo usados para crear mas caos y sufrimiento.

In Sonoma County, COVID is hitting hard the 20 to 49 year old  population. Part of it is because unvaccinated individuals go to work,  but also, they go to social gatherings and therefore are exposed more  frequently. Rarely are stories of earth protectors told the way John Cavanagh  and Robin Broad have done so with this book "The Water Defenders: How  Ordinary People Save A Country From Corporate Greed." The Roseland School District has been having many issues educationally and complaints about success rates, racism and more.  Dr. Hector Rico is the new superintendent and in this conversation shares with us about his upbringing, what motivates him to be an educator and some of the changes that he hopes to implement for the district in order to create equity.

El Distrito Escolar de Roseland ha tenido dificultades por algún tiempo, pero hay nuevas  esperanzas con la llegada del Dr. Hector Rico quien ha tomado la  posición de superintendente del distrito escolar de Roseland. Nos habla  de su experiencia como aprendice de inglés y quiere colaborar con la  comunidad para preparar mejormente a estudiantes para que puedan  competir a nivel universitario.

Many individuals now walk into restaurants and shopping centers and  don't wear the masks, but we are now being advised to wear the masks  again as the new Delta strain of COVID has infected at least one person  who had been vaccinated.  Social distance where you don't know if the  individuals are vaccinated or not is suggested by the county.  #covid  #lideres_del_futuroo #togethertowardhealth
