En este episodio, Monica Cornejo quien está estudiando para su doctorado en Comunicacion nos educa de las consecuencias para estudiantes indocumentadxs el no saber que no tienen papeles. Monica también nos habla de la importancia para estudiantes indocumentadxs en colegios y universidades y profesorxs quienes entienden las dificultades que estudiantes sobreviven diario. Finalmente, Monica nos habla del nuevo estudio de ser indocumentadx y el COVID-19.

UC Santa Barbara professor Jennifer Kam talks with us about her research with undocumented students and their families.  Many parents do not tell their children that they are undocumented and others make it a priority from a young age.  The are many consequences undocumented youth.  She also shares information about the importance of faculty as allies at community colleges and universities.  Finally, she introduces her research on being undocumented and COVID-19.

https://anchor.fm/rafael-vazquez7 The economy is getting worse.  Wall Street is doing great, but millions of individuals have lost their jobs temporarily or permanently.  Corporations want to give more money to their investors and that means employing more individuals for part-time work with no benefits.  I speak about the downside of this system and careers that are on the rise.

Ahora el presidente quiere eliminar el programa pretendiendo que va a estudiar si los beneficios del programa valen la pena. Los medios de comunicación no están compartiendo la información correcta. Desde mediados del 2019 la economía estaba empeorando y ahora estamos viendo las consecuencias. El presidente y los medios de comunicación culparan COVID, pero esto empezó mucho antes y tomara hasta 5 años para mejorar.

Gente dice “estoy agradecido que mis papas me pegaron porque soy un adulto responsable.” Muchxs de nosotrxs sufrimos abuso emocional y físico en la niñez pero nos echamos la culpa cuando crecemos. Si no sanamos, nosotrxs pasaremos este mismo trauma a nuestrxs hijxs. Esta es la razón por la cual fúmanos, tomamos, cometemos violencia doméstica y tenemos problemas médicos como diabetes, derrames cerebrales, ataques al corazon y morimos en una edad temprana
