· I speak a lot about prioritizing your self-care and filling your cup – this empowers you. Having a full cup makes you more confident, fulfilled and ready to take on the world. This includes physical, emotional and mental activities that make you feel empowered. It must be about YOU and how it makes you feel.
· Some examples of filling your cup include going for a walk, meditating, praying, taking some time to breath, reading, watching a guilty pleasure, doing something that you love, being kind to yourself, etc. It can even mean saying no and protecting as well as respecting your boundaries.
· In contrast, when you don’t fill your cup, you are drained of power. Others fill the cup with their garbage and you are left powerless in your own life. According to psychologists, “neglecting personal care can cause increases in anxiety, distractibility, anger, and fatigue. You may also experience decreases in sleep, relationship satisfaction, self-esteem, empathy, and compassion.”
