Outstanding professional in the field of guidance and counseling,  Dr. Rowena Banes inspires young counselors and professionals alike in narrating how she started and grew in her career.  In her interview on Life Expressions with Charie Ginete-Ilon,   Doc Weng shares the dos and don'ts of counseling and the joys and pains of being a guidance counselor.  Dr. Rowena Banes is currently the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City.

Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna tells his story of finding his way to public service.   After more than 15 years of work in media and civil service, Sedfrey finds himself ready and able to serve his fellows Ilonggos as City Councilor of Iloilo City.  He is running in the ticket of incumbent Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas.  In the interview with Charie Ginete-Ilon on Life Expressions,  Sedfrey shares his learnings and challenges as well as his inspiration and agenda in running for public office.

Grit and Perseverance.  The two key values that have pushed a young man from Sicogon island,  Sando A. Silverio to reach for his dreams amidst poverty and the sadness over losing his parents early in life. Being the youngest, he is the first to finish college in the family. But he didn't just get his degree. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and received many other awards that brought honor to his school. Now, Sandro is teaching Math at Philippine Science High School. Being the JCI Asia Pacific Conference Champion in Public Speaking, he will soon compete in the JCI World Conference Public Speaking Competition. Marvencent Bangoy is an outstanding teacher in the Philippines who moved to Tucson,  Arizona to teach through the cultural exchange program.  He talks about the disparity of opportunities for students in the Philippines and the United States.  In his interview in Life Expressions,  Marven shared his background and how he beat poverty, working on the farm while going to school,  his experience in making both ends meet as a teacher,  being taken advantaged of by loan sharks and finally being able to earn enough for his family and for him to share with different organizations and pursuing his advocacy in information, communication, and technology.  #lifeexpressions #ICT #teachingprofession #success

Filipina in New Jersey vies for the  Fab 40 Contest.  Get to know

Tina Marie Romero, a 1990 UP Diliman graduate,  owner, and CEO of a home care agency in New Jersey,  a breast cancer survivor, and currently a Semi-Finalist for a Fab Over 40 contest raising $5k+ for the National Breast Cancer Foundation so far.

She's determined to win this contest so she can give certified home health aide scholarships to 40 women plus it will give her the opportunity to share her advocacy with a larger audience. She is advocating for a legislative change for a new visa category for low-skilled workers so she can bring in caregivers from the Philippines as a solution to the dire caregiver shortage in the US and give Filipino caregivers an opportunity to elevate their lives.
