The Barbados welcome stamp is becoming increasingly popular, and I've loved hearing how much I've been inspiring others to follow in my footsteps!
The voices you'll hear on this week's episode of "Life in Barbados" all have something in common. We're all at different stages of our journey in relocating to this paradise island of Barbados.
By now, you'll know that I (Yvonne Campbell) relocated here just before Christmas 2020.
And through this podcast, I've now discovered someone else who is on her way out here, to also follow her dreams.
You'll hear me talking to Liz Forshaw all about her realisation that she wanted to ignore making a step on to the property ladder, and instead follow her travel dreams and live the Bajan life.
I also have a lovely chat with Canadian Kathryn Holopainen who decided to use the Welcome Stamp to move out here with her partner in order to bridge the gap in a distance-based relationship.

After weeks of listening and subscribing to my podcast "Life in Barbados" I decided to ask YOU to be MY Valentine.
Also, please accept this token of my gratitude - a special bonus episode.
If you ARE planning on getting hitched in Barbados, and enjoying the beautiful Bajan vibes in your wedding photos, you should listen to this episode.
We take a deeper dive with the full length chat to our show's new friend, Barbados wedding photographer Aniya!
We also feel like there wasn't quite enough Kirk Brown on the actual episode, so this episode features more of his thoughts about the ultimate wedding party entertainment for the best possible Barbados wedding!
Enjoy!
This week's episode is all about romance and tying the knot on the beautiful paradise island of Barbados.
As you’ll hear, this episode was inspired by a dinner I enjoyed at the Lone Star restaurant and my spotting a flyer for weddings there.
I picked up on that as a bit of a sign that I should do a romance related episode to coincide with Valentine's Day which was just a few days away, as this episode was being recorded.
So here we are.
This episode acted as a bit of a learning moment for me. During my research, I learned all about Sailors Valentines.
This episode is also crammed full of guests with incredible tips for any romantic couples wanting to pop over to Barbados for the dream destination wedding.
We have Malissa Blackman, a wedding planner.
Aniya is a popular Barbados wedding photographer.
Cedric Lynch from Visit Barbados talks us through some of the stranger options for your Caribbean dream Bajan wedding.
Including this type of thing....
Simon chats to us about his experience getting hitched on the Island.
We also get the lowdown on evening entertainment options with radio personality, MC and DJ Kirk Brown, who gets wedding crowds bumping with his party skills.
You'll hear him talk about his music video.
Here it is if you want to check it out!

Still desperately needing some inspiration for YOUR Barbados wedding? How about tying the knot on a jet ski? Thanks to Mr Gary Lister from Color Box for showing us what that might look like, via this photo (see it in the episode show notes at life-in-barbados.com/podcast if you're reading this on an app that doesn't display show notes)
You join me this week as I'm currently in the midst of a 'national pause' on the paradise island of Barbados. I'm loving my time here, but like you, things have become a bit more restricted.
The Bajan Prime Minister's address called for a time to reflect, so that's exactly what I've been inspired to do for this episode.
In this action-packed edition of "Life in Barbados" I'm bringing you up to date on everything that's happening here right now.
I'm also sharing with you some of the activities I've already done. I'll be playing you some clips of my experiences fishing, eating lobster, chatting with my new feathered friends, and my new human friends; Stephen and Nicholas (the Bajan Warrior) who you met previously in episode two (do go back and listen if you didn't already!).
I've also become quite excited about some new furniture I've been enjoying, that's named after the Adirondack Mountains!
This show wouldn't be "Life in Barbados" if it didn't feature food in a big way, and so I've made sure it features plenty!
You'll hear all about my visits to Lone Star, Tides and Sea Shed.
Other highlights of this episode include some new car drama, eating a pigs tail, checking out some cruise ships that have been.... well.... cruising around out on the Bajan coastline!

Barbados has some of the most interesting food and drink in not just the Caribbean, but the world.
One of my favourite things to do in a new place is check out what culinary treats I can get my taste buds wrapped around.
I don't know why it's taken me three episodes to get to this, honestly, but I couldn't wait even one episode more!
In this edition of "Life in Barbados" I undertake a walking food tour around Bridgetown with Janelle from Lickrish Food Tours.
You'll hear me taste a drop of Sorrel, eat a Roti, a 'donk' (yes really!!!) some salted cod at a legendary (literally) fish cakes, drink some Mauby, and taste some delicious Rum ice cream!
I couldn't believe the wonderful variety of treats the paradise island has to offer.

In this second episode, I meet the Bajan Warrior, Nicolas Deane.
We take a long walk along the stunning Barbados beaches, and Nicolas talks me through everything beach related.
He offers some vital 'must know' tips about the paradise island.
There's a deadly fruit you need to avoid!!
I thought it might be quite handy to show you what it looks like.
Here it is!
Here's the Manchineel tree it comes from!
During our walk, the Bajan Warrior showed me One Sandy Lane, and mentioned a rather special resident who lives there.... Rihanna. We learn more about one of his very favourite beaches, Worthing Beach and the South East coast beach, Palmetto Bay.
You can listen to our full conversation by clicking here.
Please note, the audio quality isn't the best, but there are some useful insights for you, if you've already organised a trip to Barbados.
If you'd like to check out Nicholas' map, you can see it below.
In addition to this wonderfully informative Barbados beach tour the Bajan Warrior gives me, you'll also hear me talking about my new digs. Thanks so much to Chris from One Caribbean Estates!
If you want to watch the video of my new place that I played the clip from, it's here.

Welcome to the first episode of my new podcast, capturing the ups and downs of my move from Belfast to Barbados.
For those of you who are brand new to Otherworld Travel, I'm Yvonne Campbell, a certified travel agent and soon-to-be Barbados expert. Life in Barbados is my second travel-themed podcast.
If you tuned in to my first podcast series, "The Bucket List" you may have heard my guest Marc Mc Collin from Visit Barbados talking about the Caribbean paradise island, and all that it has to offer.
During that conversation, I talked with Marc about the welcome stamp. Little did I know at the time, but the seed of curiosity was already planted, and I was already putting in place plans to tick a visit to Barbados off my very own bucket list!
