There is a simple truth about service fatigue: It comes from a lack of rest. We all need to take breaks to recharge or we run out of juice to serve effectively.

John closes this letter with a reminder of what we know as Christ followers and the power of prayer. 

In light of the Christmas season, I am reposting this episode. It's a reminder of what we are to take note of not just this time of year, but every day as followers of Emmanuel.

Can I ever fit in among the people I'm called to serve? Struggles with contextualization lead many to long for home. What do you do with contextualization frustration?

Does God hear our prayers? Does he answer them? He does for those who believe in the name of his Son. Of that we can be assured. 

The life of the Christian is not a life of seclusion. Even in the midst of our enemies, he's got us covered.

What can help ease the feeling that you're always an outsider in service? Get to know the people you serve. The more you put an effort in learning all you can about them, the more they'll see you as a person who cares for them as they are.

Complacency has no place in the Christian life. A spiritual battle is happening for the souls of men and women, and we must be on the frontline of speaking Truth to lies. Will you answer the call?

Cross-cultural and ministry service is not meant to be done in isolation. We need others in the Body to help us maintain effectiveness and longevity.

The testimony we carry to the world is verified by three things: Christ's baptism, Christ's blood, and the Holy Spirit. The confidence of this testimony gives us victory.
