  • “But Abortion Doesn’t Affect You”

You’ve likely heard someone ask, “Abortion doesn’t affect you, so why do you care so much?”

The truth is, something does not have to directly impact your life for you to speak out against it as a great moral evil.

For example, we oppose human trafficking even if we have never been trafficked. We condemn chattel slavery though we were never slaves. We speak out against genocide without being its victims.

When we know a grave injustice is happening, silence is not neutrality, and it is certainly not virtuous. Truth is, its cowardice. Abortion is the defining human rights issue of our time. To learn how to refute this and other pro-abortion arguments, visit our new resource, In Defense of Life, at lifeissues.org

    1. Refuting Pro-Abortion Arguments

As a pro-life advocate, you have no doubt found yourself in debates, faced difficult questions, and seen challenges to your beliefs. If we are going to change the culture and finally end abortion, we must all be prepared to share not only what we believe, but why we believe it.

That’s why we launched In Defense of Life, our new campaign designed to help you refute today’s most common pro-abortion arguments with clarity, truth, and compassion. From bodily autonomy, to sentience, and even self-defense, abortion advocates come well prepared with arguments against the sanctity of life.

That is why we created this one-stop-shop for pro-life apologetics, available in the palm of your hand at any time on our website lifeissues.org so you can enter the arena well prepared to defend life.

      1. Abortion for Climate Change?

A recent story out of the U.K. shows just how tragic and misguided fear can become when it leads a mother to kill her own unborn child because she’s frightened about “climate change.”

According to LifeNews, a 37-year-old woman, despite being happily married with two children, aborted her child after overwhelming anxiety about the future and “environmental fears” drove her decision. She later struggled with deep sadness and regret over ending her baby’s life.

This heartbreaking case highlights how radical ideologies and panic can distort our view of human dignity and worth. Legal protections must be put in place to protect the life of every child. Anxiety about climate change is not a justification to kill a child.

      2. Website Promotes Secret Teen Abortions

A pro-abortion website, IneedAnA.com, is now openly promoting resources designed to help teenagers obtain secret abortions without their parents ever knowing. One section is chillingly titled, “Let’s start with parental involvement laws, what are they?” It walks minors through how to bypass state laws that require parental consent through judicial bypass systems, and even lists organizations ready to help facilitate abortions in their home states.

It cuts parents out of their God-given role to protect, guide, and care for their children during moments of fear and crisis.

The abortion industry is relentless. Pro-life education is our weapon to fight back, truth, love, and courage in defense of life, family, and the unborn.

      3. MAID for Babies?

Recent reports out of Canada reveal a chilling development: discussions have emerged about extending Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) to include disabled newborn infants.

Canada’s MAiD regime, originally designed for terminally ill adults, has steadily expanded to include people with disabilities and mental illness, and now debates over “baby euthanasia” has resurfaced among some medical and bioethics circles.

This slippery slope threatens the fundamental dignity of every human being, especially the most vulnerable among us. As pro-life advocates, we must clearly reject any policy that treats disability as a reason to end an innocent life. Every human being, regardless of their circumstances has a right to life.

      4. Hundreds with Down Syndrome Aborted

New UK government statistics reveal a heartbreaking truth: in 2023, 735 unborn babies were aborted simply because they were diagnosed with Down syndrome, an increase from prior years and part of over 3,200 disability-selective abortions.

These aren’t just numbers, they are real children made in God’s image, each deserving protection, dignity, and love. Our society champions disability rights after birth, yet before birth, babies with conditions like Down syndrome are too often discarded instead of cherished.

We must call for laws that protect all human life, support families facing challenging diagnoses, and affirm that every child, regardless of ability, has an equal right to live.

      5. UN Considers Redefining Children’s Rights

The United Nations is now considering a radical redefinition of children’s rights that would treat access to abortion and gender transition as so-called “rights” for minors—stripping parents of their God-given authority and exposing children to irreversible harm. Draft General Comment No. 27 being discussed in Geneva would push “free and equal access to reproductive services” for adolescents and eliminate age limits and parental consent for abortion and gender procedures.

This is not protection of the weak, it is exploitation of the innocent. Children deserve true rights: safety, love, and the care of their families. As Christians, we must stand for life, defend parental rights, and proclaim that every child is made in the image of God.

      6. Virginia Legislature Pushes Abortion to Birth

Virginia Democrats in the General Assembly passed a proposed constitutional amendment that would enshrine abortion up to birth by creating a so-called “fundamental right to reproductive freedom.” The measure cleared both the House and Senate on party-line votes and now goes to a statewide vote in November.

The amendment is as extreme as it is deadly, it would go far beyond even the pre-Dobbs status quo by removing virtually all protections for unborn children and potentially jeopardizing parental consent laws, safety standards, conscience rights, and restrictions on taxpayer-funded abortions.

This radical abortion amendment is the latest in a growing list of attempts to enshrine abortion into state constitutions and must be rejected.

      7. NY Abandons Near Decade Long Fight

In a significant win for religious freedom, New York state has abandoned its nearly decade-long effort to force Christian organizations — including nuns, churches, and faith-based ministries — to fund abortions through employee health insurance plans.

For years, New York tried to compel ministries that serve everyone to provide and subsidize abortion coverage, even when it violated their deeply held moral beliefs. Thanks to persistent legal challenges and repeated interventions from the U.S. Supreme Court affirming First Amendment protections, the state finally backed down.

This outcome reinforces a fundamental truth: no government should coerce faith-based organizations to pay for practices they believe are morally wrong. When conscience and conviction are respected, our society upholds both human dignity and the authentic meaning of freedom.

      8. Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide up 30% in Spain

New data from Spain shows euthanasia and assisted suicide deaths rose nearly 30 percent in a single year. But even more troubling is where this trend is headed. Spain’s Ministry of Health has openly considered expanding euthanasia to include mental illness, stating that people suffering psychologically could qualify for death on the same terms as those with physical disease. This is not compassion. It is surrender.

We are already seeing this slippery slope elsewhere. In Victoria, Australia, assisted suicide eligibility was recently expanded, doubling the life-expectancy threshold just six years after legalization. What began as a so-called “last resort” quickly became broader and easier to access.

When death is offered as treatment, vulnerable people are placed at risk. True care means providing hope, treatment, and support, not an early grave. Every human life has value, without exception.
