When you look back to your young adulthood, aren't you thankful for the people around you that offered you grace? I sure am. I am on my way to 50 and still don't always have my ducks in a row. However, I will never forget those that loved me and were gracious to me when I was young and needed help. In today's episode I talk about something that happened when I was a young mom and the sweet friend who was just present. What a gift she was to me. Enjoy!
I try to start each day being thankful for the little things: a good night's sleep, a comfortable bed, hot coffee with half-and-half, etc. Being grateful changes my attitude and motivates me to do what I was created to do. When you step back and look at your day (week/month/2022), what are thankful for?
I’m thrilled to introduce my first guest, Dominique Egbers—a remarkable mother, creative soul, and the heart of our family through her marriage to my cousin, Dustin. Dominique has made a profound impact as a foster parent and has adopted two boys with Dustin. In our conversation, she shares her inspiring journey and deep passion for fostering and adoption. If you’re moved to support foster families or case workers in your area, check out www.dfps.com for more information. Don’t miss this heartfelt episode!
To me, writing is about so much more than being an author. I have participated in many different forms of writing over the years, and today on the podcast I encourage you to do the same. I believe that you have something wonderful to say. Enjoy!
Taking a risk doesn't mean everything will turn out exactly the way you want. However, if you never try, how will you know? In this episode I talk about my bakery and some of the exciting things that happened during that season. I hope someone will be encouraged to try that thing (new job, new move, new whatever!) and will realize it doesn't have to be perfect to still be a gift.
In this episode, I give a glimpse of what it's like to raise a child with a disability. With written permission from the author, I also share the beautiful short story Welcome to Holland. I know what it's like to land in a place you never thought you would, but I wouldn't trade this journey for anything in the world. Enjoy!

I don't know about you, but I'm not the most patient person. Today I give a silly example of why we are sometimes expected to wait, as I honor my dear friend Melanie. As I shared this story, I'm also reminded that life is short! May I be diligent to always remind those I love how much I do. Enjoy!
Having a baby and getting married at seventeen was never part of a dream for my life. And yet, that's where I found myself over thirty years ago. Even in the difficult parts, I have been able to find beauty in my story.
Everyone has a story they find themselves sharing often in their lives. In this short first episode I briefly share mine. The Big Bang Theory, what my grandchildren call me, and my favorite photographer are all subjects I touch on today. (P.S. You can find her @laurenashleyphotographytx on Instagram.)
