LIFE with Latter-day Saints

We wanted to acknowledge current events in the United States which have opened up wide-reaching discussions on racism and perspective, and it inadvertently ended up being our entire episode of discussion. While our sphere of influence may be small, and our claim to expertise on this subject even smaller, we feel that it is important to keep discussions going, even while we are in the midst of learning, and un-learning, or when figuring it all out is sometimes uncomfortable. This is not meant to be an episode about white-fragility, but more of a call to action for us, and for others, to be introspective, reflective, and examine where we can begin. That's exactly what this podcast is all about! Sharing perspective and telling it like it is in our realm of LIFE. After all, we can't hope to really develop stronger empathy and understanding until we are all willing to listen to each other's stories and lean in. And we suspect there may be others in similar circumstances as us! So if you're learning and un-learning, observing, and feeling, and growing too, let's start together.

Jon and Steph talk about their experiences with the scriptures growing up, and the culture around scriptures in every-day life! It's all just a regular part of LIFE when you're a Latter-day Saint!

We live in a culture of "Self Care", and during this time of quarantine and sheltering-in-place it is especially important! But how is "Self Care" actually defined, and what makes it worthwhile for each of us individually? In this modern world we're in a fight for our minds. Mental and emotional wellness is key to a strong sense of self-worth and esteem. But is it possible to give yourself proper self-care and still maintain a strong membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? When there are standards and expectations of lifestyle, what does that mean for each of us personally? Jon and Steph discuss all of this and more on this week's episode of LIFE with Latter-day Saints!
