  • Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - Letting Go of What Was

As one year ends and another begins, it’s natural to reflect on what has been—both the victories and the regrets. Often, the moments we replay most are the failures and poor decisions we wish we could change. But God reminds us that the past is meant to be a place of learning, not dwelling. He is always moving us forward. When we release the weight of yesterday through repentance and forgiveness, we make room to see the new thing God is already doing.

    TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
    — Isaiah 43:18–19

    YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

    Lord,
As I look back on this past year, I thank You for carrying me through it all. I confess that some of my choices missed the mark, and I repent of any sin or hurt I may have caused. Teach me what I need to learn from the past without allowing it to define me. Help me truly receive Your forgiveness, knowing that what You forgive, You no longer hold against me. Tonight, I release the weight of what was and step forward in faith, trusting You with what is ahead. Thank You for making all things new.
    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen.

    THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON

    1. What lesson from the past year is God inviting you to carry forward—without carrying the guilt with it?

    2. Is there forgiveness you need to receive or extend so you can move freely into what God has next?

    3. How does trusting that God is “doing a new thing” change the way you view the coming year?

  • The Crosswalk Devotional: A Daily Devotional Chris... - Gratefulness or Entitlement

Gratitude can quietly slip into entitlement when expectations replace thankfulness. This devotional invites us to examine our hearts, reminding us that God doesn’t owe us anything—and yet, in His grace, He gives us far more than we deserve. Choosing gratitude realigns our focus on what truly matters and restores humility in everyday moments.

    Highlights

    • Entitlement often shows up subtly, even in everyday disappointments.

    • Gratitude is not based on circumstances, but on recognizing God’s grace.

    • God’s will calls us to thankfulness in all seasons, not just the easy ones.

    • A heart focused on what it “deserves” easily loses sight of what it has been given.

    • Jesus modeled humility and service, never demanding what was owed to Him.

    • Reflecting on God’s blessings helps shift our mindset from complaint to praise.

    Gratefulness or Entitlement?

    Bible Reading:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

This year, because we were blessed with some money in October, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a new coffee maker. As we pulled out this fancy machine with all the bells and whistles you could imagine, we were excited to try it out. We quickly realized, however, that it would be more difficult to use than we thought. We followed the instructions carefully, yet it wasn't making the drinks we desired. After several unsuccessful attempts (and a half a bag of wasted coffee), we decided to return the machine. After all, we weren't going to spend a lot of money on a machine that didn't meet our needs.

As we packed up the machine, we grumbled. Didn't we deserve a coffee maker that gave us what we wanted? We wanted to treat ourselves to something special, wouldn't God give us the treat that we deserved? Even though it was after Thanksgiving, our hearts were far from thankful.

After we reflected on our attitudes, we asked the Lord for forgiveness. We realized we were struggling with the spirit of entitlement. We plunked down our hard-earned money and expected to get a reward in return. But as we all know, that's not how God works. God doesn't owe us anything. In fact, we owe him everything.

The above verse reminds us that we are commanded to be thankful, but it is God's will that we be grateful in everything. Yet we can easily get consumed by our own challenging circumstances, w

  • Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer for Courage to Step into the Unknown

Stepping into the unknown can feel unsettling, especially when God calls us to leave what is familiar and secure. Abraham’s journey in Genesis 12 reminds us that faith often begins without full clarity—only a promise and a calling from God. Like Abraham, we are sometimes asked to trust before we see the outcome, to move forward despite fear, and to depend fully on the Lord. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to obey God even when the path ahead is unclear. As we learn to trust God’s faithfulness, He strengthens us to take bold steps of faith into what He has prepared.

    Main Takeaways

    • You’ll learn why obedience to God often requires courage before clarity.

    • Discover how Abraham’s response to God models faith in uncertain seasons.

    • Understand why fear does not disqualify faith—but can deepen dependence on God.

    • Reflect on how courage grows when we trust God’s promises over our fears.

    • Be encouraged to step forward in faith, trusting that God guides every unknown.

    Your Daily Prayer

Heavenly Father, You know the places in my life where fear and uncertainty hold me back. Give me the courage to trust You fully and follow where You lead, even when I don’t know what lies ahead. Help me release what You are asking me to let go of and step forward in faith, believing Your promises are sure. When fear rises, remind me that You are faithful and always with me. Strengthen my heart to walk boldly in obedience to You.
    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Your Daily Bible Verse - Feeling Overpowered and Afraid? Reflect on This (Psalm 44:3) (Best of 2025)

    Today’s Bible Verse:
"It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them." — Psalm 44:3

Psalm 44:3 reminds us that true victory doesn’t come from human strength, strategy, or skill—it comes from God’s power and favor. Israel’s story is a testimony that God’s love and presence, not their weapons, brought deliverance and blessing.

  • Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - Looking Back on the Year with Gratitude

The quiet days between Christmas and the New Year invite reflection. As the busyness fades, we’re given space to look back—not only at moments of joy, but also at seasons of hardship. Gratitude doesn’t deny pain; it acknowledges God’s presence within it. Even in uncertainty, thanksgiving shifts our hearts to recognize how faithfully God has carried us through every circumstance. When we choose gratitude, our faith is strengthened and our hope for the future renewed.

    TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
    — 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)

    YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

    Dear God,
As this year comes to a close, I pause to look back with gratitude. It wasn’t an easy year, but I can see now that You were with me through every moment. I thank You for sustaining me in uncertainty, for providing comfort in pain, and for giving strength when I felt weak. Help me choose gratitude in every circumstance—not because life is always good, but because You are. As I step into what’s ahead, I trust You with my future just as You have faithfully carried me through the past.
    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen.

    THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON

    1. What is one moment from the past year—joyful or difficult—that you can now thank God for?

    2. How has practicing gratitude helped bring peace or clarity during challenging seasons of your life?

    3. As you prepare for a new year, how can reflecting on God’s past faithfulness strengthen your trust in Him for what’s ahead?
