Today I have on apologist Mike Winger to explain why he pivoted his channel toward investigating abuse and false teaching in the church especially in settings where prophecy is practiced without accountability. He traces how “cover-up culture” forms, why some leaders stay silent, and how non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), intimidation, and platform protection can compound harm. He also lays out a biblical blueprint for dealing with credible accusations (1 Tim. 5:19–20) that protects the innocent, warns the flock, and seeks real reform not mobs or witch hunts. *Get a MASTERS IN APOLOGETICS or SCIENCE AND RELIGION at BIOLA (https://bit.ly/3LdNqKf) *USE Discount Code [SMDCERTDISC] for 25% off the BIOLA APOLOGETICS CERTIFICATE program (https://bit.ly/3AzfPFM) *See our fully online UNDERGRAD DEGREE in Bible, Theology, and Apologetics: (https://bit.ly/448STKK) FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Twitter: https://x.com/Sean_McDowell TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@sean_mcdowell?lang=en Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/seanmcdowell/ Website: https://seanmcdowell.org

On this episode of the Built Different Podcast, we’re joined by Josh Rutledge, Vice President of Spiritual Development at Liberty University. Josh is passionate about equipping the next generation to live out authentic faith in a culture that constantly challenges it. From his leadership on campus to his preaching in Convocation and Campus Community, Josh has a unique vantage point into what God is doing in the lives of young adults today.
In our conversation, Josh reflects on the sobering cultural moment we’re living in and how tragic events have stirred both grief and a renewed hunger for truth among students. He shares powerful insights on the revival and spiritual awakening taking place across college campuses, highlighting the ways students are pressing in with a genuine desire to follow Jesus. We also talk about the dangers that threaten faith formation in young adults, the importance of discipleship as a “long obedience in the same direction,” and why spiritual formation requires not just learning about Jesus but also living like Him. Josh unpacks the heart behind Liberty’s “Built Different” sermon series, emphasizing holy habits, community, mentorship, and perseverance as essential to cultivating a resilient faith.
Throughout the episode, Josh reminds us that while the challenges of our culture are real, God is at work in extraordinary ways, raising up a generation committed to truth, righteousness, and the gospel. His prayer, and ours, is that students would not only encounter Christ but also embrace a life of deep, lasting formation in Him.

Letting go can feel like losing control—and sometimes, it feels like failure. As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, whether you’re struggling with a strained relationship, a child’s choices, financial uncertainty, or health fears, surrender can seem terrifying. Yet Psalm 37:5 reminds us that when we let go, God doesn’t.
Committing our way to the Lord means rolling the weight off our shoulders and placing it in His capable hands. The Hebrew root of the word “commit” actually paints this picture of rolling something heavy onto another. It’s not giving up—it’s giving over.
God’s promise isn’t passive—He will act. He will take what you’ve surrendered and begin working in ways unseen. And even though surrender isn’t a one-time act—it’s a daily, sometimes hourly, decision—His patience and grace meet us in the process.
If you’ve been clinging tightly to something today, remember this: His hands are stronger than yours, His love is deeper, and His timing is perfect. He doesn’t just catch what you release—He redeems it.
Tonight’s Scripture: Psalm 37:5 (NIV)
“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.”

Your Nightly Prayer
Heavenly Father,
You see what I’ve been gripping so tightly. You know the burdens that weigh heavy on my heart. Tonight, I release them into Your hands—my fears, my loved ones, my future. I trust that Your hands are better than mine, that Your wisdom is greater, and that You are working even when I cannot see it. When I’m tempted to take control again, remind me of Your faithfulness. Thank You that letting go isn’t losing—it’s trusting.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Three Things to Meditate Upon
God’s Faithful Hands: Recall a time when you had to trust someone else with something precious to you. How much more peace can you find in placing that trust in God’s hands?
A Promise to Stand On: What verse or promise from Scripture speaks most to your situation right now? Let it anchor you when you feel the urge to take control.
The Weight You’re Not Carrying: Imagine waking tomorrow without the burden you’ve been holding. Breathe deeply and thank God that He’s carrying it for you.
Next Steps:
️ Take a moment tonight to name out loud what you’re releasing to God. Then thank Him for holding it.
Share this devotion with someone who needs the reminder that surrender is not failure—it’s faith.

In this special "No Fear Fall" series kickoff episode, Heather Creekmore digs deep into the connection between faith and fear—two powerful forces that shape our daily lives. Have you ever wondered why “faith over fear” doesn’t always seem to work in real life? Are you struggling to connect your big beliefs about God to your everyday worries and anxieties? This episode is for you.
What This Episode Covers:
Faith vs. Fear: Heather challenges the widely held belief that faith and fear are simply opposites in a tug-of-war. She explores why this dichotomy might not be the most helpful way for Christians to approach their struggles.
Micro Fears and Mosquito Bites: From perfectionism and the fear of failure to tiny, everyday anxieties (like being the “fattest person in the room” or just being late), Heather shares how these micro-fears sap our joy and confidence.
Applying Faith to Real Life: Learn why just telling yourself to "have more faith" doesn't always solve the problem—and what true, biblical faith actually looks like in the face of daily struggles.
The Object of Your Faith: Is your faith in God’s character and goodness, or just in Him delivering the results you want? Heather unpacks the difference and warns against letting new age manifesting ideas creep into our beliefs.
Practical Biblical Encouragement: Heather references Philippians 4 and the life of Abraham to illustrate that faith can be messy, imperfect, and still deeply meaningful. She offers encouragement to keep trusting, even when God’s answers aren’t what you hoped for.
Takeaways:
Real, life-changing faith is rooted in the character of God—not in specific outcomes or your own plans.
It's okay to bring your desires to God, but hold them with open hands, trusting His greater wisdom and love for you.
Even imperfect faith holds value; God honors hearts that keep coming back to Him.
