How can the wickedness of sinful hearts be reconciled with the boundless lovingkindness of God? What does it look like to take refuge in the shadow of His wings when evil seems to whisper louder than ever? We unpack this tension through prayer and dive into Psalm 36, entitled Wickedness of Men and Loving Kindness of God.
Join us for this 14-minute meditation on Psalm 36, where David contrasts the downward spiral of ungodly transgression—from whispered temptations to outright evil—with the soaring heights of God's faithfulness, righteousness, and life-giving light that invites us all to find shelter and hope in Him.

For many, autumn is a season of beauty—colorful leaves, crisp air, and cozy traditions. But as our daily prayer and devotional remind us, for others, the season can reopen deep wounds of grief. Losing a loved one during this time can make every falling leaf feel like a reminder of what has been lost.
Grief is not something to hide or feel ashamed of—it is the natural expression of love for someone who is no longer here. Jesus’ words in the Beatitudes assure us that those who mourn are not abandoned in their pain. Instead, God promises His presence and comfort in the midst of sorrow.
The Lord draws near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3) and faithfully carries us when grief feels unbearable. Over time, He not only comforts us but also equips us to comfort others in their mourning (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). In this way, even our deepest pain can become a vessel of compassion and encouragement.
If autumn carries grief for you, know that you are not alone. God’s light still shines through the darkness, and His presence offers hope and healing—even in the hardest seasons.
Today's Bible Verse:
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4 (NIV)
Key Takeaways
Grief is a natural and holy expression of love—it is nothing to be ashamed of.
God promises to comfort those who mourn (Matthew 5:4).
The Lord draws close to the brokenhearted and heals our wounds (Psalm 147:3).
Our own grief can equip us to extend comfort and empathy to others in pain.
Let’s Pray Together
Dear Jesus, autumn feels full of grief this year. Please help me to accept my sorrow as a reflection of love and not push it away. Surround me with Your comfort, fill my heart with Your hope, and help me to see glimpses of beauty even in my pain. Use my story to encourage others walking through grief, and remind me that You are always near. Amen.

It’s far easier to dwell on our flaws than to celebrate our strengths. In our nightly prayer and devotional, we reflect on the fact that many of us live with a critical inner voice that whispers, “You’re not enough unless you do more.”
But in Mark 1, we find a different message. At Jesus’ baptism, before He had performed miracles or preached to the crowds, God affirmed His identity: “You are my Son… with you I am well pleased.” God’s delight wasn’t rooted in Jesus’ accomplishments but in His identity and surrender to the Father’s will.
That same truth applies to us. Our worth is not defined by achievements, possessions, or even our good works. It rests in belonging to Christ. You are loved not because of what you produce but because of Whose you are.
When you’re tempted to measure your value by accomplishments or compare yourself to others, remember this: Your true identity is found in being a child of God. And in that, He is already well pleased.
Tonight’s Scripture: Mark 1:11 (NIV)
“You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Your Nightly Prayer
Dear Jesus,
It is hard not to measure myself by my accomplishments, appearance, or failures. Yet Your Word reminds me that my worth is rooted in being Your child, not in what I do. Help me to see myself as You see me, to rest in my identity as Yours, and to silence the lies of comparison and self-criticism. Thank You for delighting in me simply because I belong to You.
Amen.
Three Things to Meditate Upon
Write down three Bible verses about identity in Christ (such as Galatians 2:20 or Ephesians 2:10). Post them where you’ll see them daily and recite them out loud.
Make two lists: one of your earthly accomplishments and another of your eternal identity as a child of God. Which one is unshakable?
Listen to Colton Dixon’s song Identity. As you reflect on the lyrics, turn them into a personal prayer of gratitude to God.
Calls to Action
Take 5 minutes tomorrow morning to read Mark 1:1–11 and reflect on God’s words of delight.
Begin an “identity in Christ” journal, writing truths that counter self-criticism with God’s Word.

Have you ever found yourself stuck in uncertainty, second-guessing your decisions, or feeling paralyzed by the pressure to choose “right”? You’re not alone.
This week on The Love Offering Podcast, I had the joy of talking with Katie M. Reid about her brand-new Bible study, God, What Do I Do?—a six-session journey through Judges 1–5. In these chapters, we see the Israelites struggling at crossroads, learning to trust God’s wisdom, and discovering how to follow His lead in uncertain times.
Katie shares how these stories offer us timeless principles for decision-making today. Whether you’re facing a major life transition, a difficult dilemma, or even small daily choices, Katie’s insights will help you:
Her heart is to equip you with six simple guiding principles rooted in Scripture so you can move forward in faith, not fear.
My prayer is that this episode will remind you that you don’t have to carry the weight of every decision alone. God’s wisdom is available to you, and His Spirit will faithfully guide your steps.
With love,
Rachael
P.S. If you’re looking for a new study for yourself or your small group, I highly recommend Katie’s God, What Do I Do? You’ll walk away encouraged, equipped, and more confident in God’s leading.
