NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH - SEPTEMBER 14TH
Everyone lives in their own bubble man. I just wanted to do this episode to spread awareness for suicide prevention week. I overslept so I posted this late but here are some mainey statistics.
In 2017 47,173 Americans that died from suicide
Estimated 1,400,000 suicide attempts
10th leading cause of death
Statistics are provided from the American foundation for suicide prevention
Things that can put an individual at a higher risk for suicide in the short term include:
•an episode of depression, psychosis, or anxiety
•a significant loss, such as the death of a partner or the loss of a job
•a personal crisis or life stress, especially one that increases a sense of isolation or leads to a loss of self-esteem, such as a breakup or divorce
•loss of social support, for example, because of a move or when a close friend relocates
•an illness or medication that triggers a change in mood
•exposure to the suicidal behaviors of others, such as friends, peers, or celebrities.
From my personal experience, the death of my grandpa put me into a long period of depression. My grandpa, who is a father figure to me, that spoiled me so much when I was baby, that I was probably heavier then than now. Due to all the food, he would feed me. The same person that loved me like his son because he didn't have a son of his own (he had my wonderful mom and three beautiful aunts tho). Yea, I saw him die on a hospital bed because every organ in his body was slowly deteriorating on him and I saw him take his last disdainful breath.
Yea, after that incident I don't think I have ever felt that low in my life. I turned to Snapchat and drinking a sh*t ton of alcohol to Co-Op with it. As I said, no one could tell how I was feeling in my bubble. All my friends, classmates, & family members just saw Ryan turning up every weekend and drinking a sh*t ton for fun. Cause he's just a fun guy. But little do they know deep inside, I never felt so sh*tty in my life.
This was really hard to share thanks for reading guys!
Like I said if there was one lesson from this podcast enjoy every moment you have with your friends, family members, co-workers, etc. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY! DON'T BE AN A**HOLE!
