Michael and Nicole Colovos were creative directors at Helmut Lang for eight years, and their experience and flair shows in their new collection, which Michael describes as "a modern, futuristic, bizarre and layered landscape with texture and pattern." Hairstylist guru Odile Gilbert created a "cool look" with her hands (no brushing) and makeup artist Chantel designed a no-makeup visage with a flash of color.

Clean, colorful stripes, gingham, big shoulders and lots of saturated hues embodied the look at the iconic designer’s runway show. Said actress Michelle Monaghan, “I am reeling from the femininity. The colors were spectacular.” Nicky Hilton agreed. “It was so Carolina. You wanted to eat the colors they were so beautiful!” Nails stayed subdued, and makeup was pared down and understated with the focus on a subtly defined lip.

Stacey Bendet’s latest collection featured bohemian patchwork, neon floral dresses and pajama sets stamped with palm trees, all inspired by the work of artists such as Lola Schnabel, Lucy Sparrow and Jemima Kirke. “I wanted it to feel like this artistic optimism and what I call rock and roll romantic,” she said. “There are lots of burnout florals with a high versus low edge to everything.” Actress Beth Ostrosky Stern was on hand; music was provided by Scout Willis.
