Have you ever felt unprepared? You’ve probably had a time in your life when you were not prepared at all for what was about to happen. As our flesh constantly fights to lead us further away from God, it’s easy for us to feel unprepared for life. But God prepares us by giving us exactly what we need: Himself! He equips us with His Holy Spirit. In this message, we’ll see that when we surrender to His Spirit, God grows us to be more like Him.

In the Bible, we read Jesus promising to send the Holy Spirit to his disciples after He is gone. As believers in Jesus, the Holy Spirit is also with us, living inside of us, just as Jesus promised. The question is, why did Jesus send the Holy Spirit to be with us? What does it mean to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit? This week we’ll begin a discussion about living with the Holy Spirit in our lives.

God’s redemptive plan for humanity involves the death of Jesus for the sins of everyone. But we enjoy God’s forgiveness only when we believe what Jesus did for us. Have you noticed, even Christians still sin? Confessing or admitting our daily sin keeps our relationship with God fresh and alive. Sin creates a barrier to our fellowship with God. That barrier disintegrates and fellowship with God gets restored when we confess our sins.

Is it possible to know you have a new life through Christ and are headed for heaven? If so, how? God never intends for the assurance of your salvation to be a perpetual guessing game. You can know you’re saved. Unfortunately, you can lose your grip on the assurance of your salvation when you take your eyes off of Jesus and His promises and begin to look inward instead. An alarming number of people insist on good works as a requirement for salvation. This approach renders assurance impossible.

Nothing challenges our view of God like challenges. Maybe, lately, you feel like you’ve had your share of obstacles and hardships. When we’re pressured with difficulties, our idea of a good God can end up on the chopping block. How can God be good when evil exists and God is powerful enough to stop it? Sooner or later every Christ-follower must wrestle with the goodness of God. We must eventually ask if God is good, what is He good for?

God reminds us in the Bible that He gave an Old Covenant and a New Covenant. Confuse the two and you’re in for a confusing and inconsistent attempt at living for Jesus. It’s not an exaggeration to suggest that the church across the world is mired in legalistic discipleship and an insistence on salvation by works. That’s the natural consequence of confusing the Old and New Covenants. Discover the freedom God wants you to know in the believers’ new normal found in God’s New Covenant.

When we find ourselves moving in a certain direction and focused on our goals, it can be jarring to feel like God suddenly is taking us in a new direction. It’s hard to consider that what we are currently building is no longer necessary or worse, futile all along. We seek to build our lives in such a way to create our own comforts and our security. When the storms of life come, all that we are building is tested and our motives are revealed. Today, we will attempt to reframe the insecurities of this life and perhaps discover or rediscover our faith in Christ in the process.

We all identify with communities in some ways. Even the most isolated individuals acknowledge some basic common ground with other people groups. From sports teams to political parties to hometowns, communities unite us around common ideas. But when we run into differences, we forget all about that unity. The Bible shows us something else, though. God creates a community that can unite people beyond any other divisions. In this message, we’ll explore how God calls His people to a new community where He leads us to love others, even when we’re different.
