God has a lot to say to His people about lots of different issues. Some of what He has to say is clear and easy to understand, but some of it is not so easy to understand. And for some issues, He doesn’t say anything. In order for us to understand how to follow Him, we have to learn to follow His priorities and determine absolutes, convictions, and preferences.

God’s Word makes it clear that orphans are close to His heart. He calls us to defend the cause of orphans. Here at LifePoint, one of the ways our church family cares for orphans is through Alpha Life, an orphan ministry in Dnipro, Ukraine. In partnership with Orphan Outreach, this ministry located in one city is now growing and potentially impacting orphans nationwide in Ukraine. This weekend is a celebration of what God is doing through this partnership to care for orphans and share the love of Christ with them.

It’s possible to live with legitimate, godly desires that are never fulfilled in your lifetime. Pain, disappointment, heartache and disillusionment can expose these restless longings. Unmet desires remind us that we’re living in one world but longing for another. God has placed eternity in our hearts. Those of us who have been united with Christ will spend forever with Him in a joy-filled paradise. And every experience of hardship now can remind us that we’re falling up toward another world

Too often, reality for us is represented by what we experience with our five senses. But God works through an invisible kingdom often in invisible ways. He works differently than we might expect. In God’s kingdom, the way up is the way down. When we “Fall Up” we might even conclude that success is not defined the way we thought. God invites us to experience this invisible kingdom now. But be prepared; this kingdom is not only unseen but also upside-down.

It’s not unusual to have certain expectations about how life should work and what God is obligated to do for us. This formulaic view of life makes perfect sense until the formula no longer works in our favor. We instinctively work to avoid pain at any cost. But what if pain and disappointment and heartache and even disillusionment are all required to help us discover real life and move forward? What if the way down is really the way up?

The resurrection of Jesus is the single most important event in human history. If Jesus is not raised from the dead, then none of us will be either. Without His resurrection, we’re held captive by sin and death. The resurrection makes real life possible. Jesus paints a simple picture about life in Him: Enter through a narrow gate and walk down the narrow path. Life begins when we find Jesus; life is experienced when we follow Him.

God’s purposes for humanity were unfolding before any of us were born. While God’s purposes are clear to Him, they may seem fuzzy to us. The road we walk can be filled with the unexpected—potholes and detours we never anticipated. In a parade of adulation, Jesus entered Jerusalem while the crowd waved palm branches in celebration. He would be crucified by the end of the week. What was God doing? And what can we expect from God as we walk the unexpected road?

The Road to Easter runs the entire length of the Bible. The whole of scripture is the unfolding story of the Father’s plan to redeem the world through the death and resurrection of His beloved Son. As with all roads, the destination is harder to see when the journey begins, but if we look carefully, we can see that right from the beginning God was calling people to walk a road that leads to Jesus.

The book of Galatians is a powerful treatise on the sufficiency of God’s grace to save us apart from the externals of law-keeping. Attempting to keep the law as the way to salvation or even as the means for growing in Christ ends in failure and bondage. Freedom is found in Jesus! Discovering the grace found in Jesus leads to boasting—boasting in the enormity of what Christ accomplished on the cross. Through Jesus we can experience a new creation.
