Men experience depression differently from women. Some men manifest depression as anger, agitation, or being "on edge." While others demonstrate depression by withdrawing from friends, family, and activities they've once enjoyed. However depression manifests in you, there is help available. If you do not have a circle of friends to talk to, you can find help by calling the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988. 

Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHC) have resources available to for anyone who is in need of a primary care provider and/or behavioral health provider. You can find one in your state or county by searching FQHC in your area.

In honor of Men's Mental Health Month let's talk about depression and how it affects men. Also, where can one go to get help?

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is commonly known as winter depression and can be triggered by Daylight Saving Time. SAD affects about 6% of the population and affects women 4 times more than men. About 20 – 30% of the population will be affected by a mild case of SAD in their lifetime.

In this episode, I will define triggers, give examples of types of triggers, and list ways to help manage triggers.

Sometimes anxiety can get the best of us. Our perception plays a huge role in how much anxiety we deal with on a day-to-day basis. We can manage our anxiety by implementing practical coping skills.
