Jesus is our perfect example. If we are to live intentionally for Him then we must emulate all He did with the help of the Holy Spirit. Jesus taught how to pray and lived a life of daily communion with God. He always knew the heart of the Father. Jesus prayed without ceasing. He prayed as He was getting baptized, He prayed as He chose His disciples, He retreated to pray, He prayed before He got crucified, He prayed in agony, He prayed as He healed, set people free, multiplied food and so on. Jesus Christ was intentional with all He did and one of the acts He was very intentional about was His prayer life. He wanted us to truly understand that we have to always pray to have a successful life. That was what He always did and that was why His disciples had to ask, Lord, teach us how to pray__. Here are some lessons we learnt and discussed from the last sermon in the “Dangerous Prayers” message series by Pastor Craig Groeschel of Life.Church. We couldn’t possibly exhaust all the points so please watch the sermon yourself!

Many a times as Christians we often pray prayers that actually deals with God doing a particular thing for us, family,  friends. But the question in today's discussion focuses on is ' have you ever prayed about what you can do for God?'

I am sure many of us don't even think we can do anything for God.

The prayer of God send me is a prayer for availability. Its about telling God you are open for His use, for a new level of  revelation with Him. This kind of prayer changes your walk pattern with God, it brings you to another level of closeness with God.

Some of our responses to God's call are, here I am, am not going (Jonah 1:1-3)

, here I am, send someone else (Exodus 4:10-13), here I am, send me (Isaiah 6:8)

These responses were discussed and the other part of the sermon that talked about how we surrender to Gods call and know His voice_ were also discussed. Listen and be blessed.

This podcast by the help of the Holy Spirit will help you understand the rationale behind doing prayer walks or chains and decreeing and declaring. There are different ways to pray. Doing a prayer chain during group prayers or doing a prayer walk are nice ways to pray. They have benefits and are good to do especially when the way you used to pray becomes mere routine to you. We should always declare the word of God over our lives and decree with the authority we have in Jesus. In all we do, the Holy Spirit should lead us. Listen and blessed.

All night prayers

All night prayer is something we should understand and do in our walk with God.

Jesus did all-night prayers, David did also. We can never be too busy to do this once in a while. All-night prayer or mid-night prayer or vigil builds self disciple in us. Its a sacrifice and God honours sacrifices. During midnight, a lot of deeds happen_especially wicked deeds. At midnight, most people are asleep and in the parable of the sower, we got to do understand that tares were sowed while men were asleep. Since we know wicked acts happen mostly at midnight, then it will be wise of us to intentionally sow wheats into our lives during this period. We should all strive to get to the point where even when we are sleeping, our spirit should still be on fire. Listen and be blessed.

Group Prayers. This episode shows what group prayers are. We look at biblical examples of group prayers and some promises attached to them. We also discuss some forms of group prayers as well as their benefits. As believers we are strengthened as we engage in spiritual activities, even with others. Group prayers help us keep the fire burning for God and they are vital in our journey of Faith. Listen and be blessed.

Prayer on the Mountain. In this episode we talk about mountain prayers. We look at what they are about, the indications for them and some of their purposes. It's important we set out time to be alone with God and away from all else, this is what mountain prayers are about and they help us achieve much spiritually. Listen and be blessed.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalms 91:1 NKJV

The secret place is the place of the Most High. Its a safe place. Its a place we get deeper in God. We are to continuously dwell in the secret place. God wants us to stay and be willing to stay in the secret place. As you grow in God, you will grow into continuously dwelling in His secret place. The secret place is coming into the presence of God_communion with Christ. Dwelling in the secret place has a lot of benefits.

Fasting is an intentional act done to help us take away distractions and put our focus on God. We can fast from food or anything that we know distracts us or we see is becoming first place in our lives (if its not God). Fasting and prayer go hand in hand. Its a balanced diet. Fasting without praying will be another name for going on a hunger strike. Jesus fasted and therefore we should inculcate this habit as we walk with God. The Holy Spirit should lead us into fasting. Never depend on your flesh, never think you can fast without the help of the Holy Spirit. Listen and be blessed.

Prayer is communion with God, a conversation where you speak and listen to Him. Conduct, is what we do; character, is what we are. Character is the state of the heart, conduct its outward expression. Character is the root of the tree, conduct, the fruit it bears. Conduct affects character, and counts for much in our praying. At the same time, character affects conduct to a far greater extent, and has a superior influence over prayer. Character also refers to the inner posture of your heart while praying; These include;

*Faith in the Word of God and in the finished works of Christ.

*Humility and brokenness

*Willingness to Forsake your will for His will

*Patience to listen and wait on Him

*A heart of Thanksgiving.

As for conduct;

*Avoid all distractions

*Don't pray to be seen by men

*Out of love be considerate of the people around you and do not disturb.

And let us not forget that the spirit of God is with us to help and guide us into all truth as we wait on God in prayer
