Light in the D Podcast

Losing your job can be devastating. It can leave you lost on where to turn; and with the false feeling you’ve lost your worth. Don’t despair.

Robb Conlon, Founder of Westport Studios and host of the podcast, Recruiting Hell shares his story of leaning on his network relationships after losing a job; and the amazing blessing that followed. This is a human connection story you won’t want to miss!

For Light in the D Studios, I’m John Irvine and this is The Human Connection.

We’ve heard all the platitudes when someone has been laid off or is unhappy in their work, including there’s something better out there for you, but maybe it's not better we should seek, but something different.

What is better?  And maybe it’s something different, the unexpected, that will surprise us.

I discuss all this and more with my friend Rex Roy, Founder of Regius Communications, and the Idea Guy behind My Career Snapshot.

Welcome to Light in the D and part 2 of my conversation with Reverend Tyler Cronkright. In part 2, Tyler and I get real in a discussion about discerning truth and the sign of the times like “mandatory” things (let he who has ears hear) aren’t supposed to question or apply critical thinking; looking at all of it through the lens of Word of God and how we should not allow fear, of disease, of death, the government, or the media, etc to force us to lose sight of where true light and hope is…in Jesus Christ.

Tyler Cronkright is Associate Pastor beside Senior Pastor Jim Hill of Family of God - a Lutheran ministry committed to bringing the transformative power of the Gospel to the lives of those living in Southwest Detroit.  Tyler also co-hosts a podcast named Jesus, Dietrich, and Me. LCMS Pastors Jim Hill and Tyler look at the different works of German theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer and weave them together with Jesus and current cultural affairs.

To kick off the first episode of Light in the D in 2022, I have a conversation with my friend who is also a Pastor, Reverend Tyler Cronkright.  Tyler and I had a long and edifying conversation, so I made this one a two-parter. In part one Tyler shares the Root of the Gospel, Why Jesus needed to become sin on our behalf  I learned something I didn’t know), plus one characteristic of God that the Church sometimes misses, or dismisses.
