A brief bit of encouragement for the journey from God's Word. Today's Scripture reading: 1 Thessalonians 3 To support this devotional ministry: https://faithbaptiststerling.com/give/ Music: "Awaken the Dawn" by Stanton Lanier https://www.stantonlanier.com CCLI #20109360

The sermon urges believers to remain steadfast in their faith amidst a darkening world by holding firmly to God's Word and rejecting political polarization. Drawing from Proverbs, the speaker emphasizes that spiritual integrity requires avoiding the paths of the wicked and focusing solely on vertical devotion to Christ rather than horizontal societal debates. The message highlights the promise that as global darkness increases, the light of the church will shine brighter, attracting those seeking truth during times of crisis. Believers are called to be lighthouse keepers who offer courage and hope through the power of the Holy Spirit, regardless of external threats or cultural pressure. Ultimately, the central appeal is for individuals to surrender their lives completely to God, asking Him to glorify His name through their faithful witness and transformed character.

The sermon explores Paul's instruction to the Philippian church to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, defining this as a holistic pursuit of Christ rather than mere rule-following. By contrasting Moses' pessimistic warning in Deuteronomy 32 with Paul's confident assurance in Philippians 2, the text highlights how believers are now blameless children of God secured by Christ's blood. This secure identity enables Christians to serve without grumbling and shine as lights in a twisted generation through heartfelt obedience. The preacher emphasizes that true obedience stems from joy and trust in God's ongoing work, not from fear of failure or reliance on human effort. Ultimately, the message offers comfort and hope, assuring listeners that their spiritual journey is sustained by Christ's finished work and leads to eternal glory.

Justin Peters examines several claims made by Bill Johnson concerning the presence of God, the Holy Spirit's work in believers, Peter's shadow, miraculous healing, and "bringing heaven to earth." Opening Scripture in context, Justin contrasts vague spiritual claims with the clear teaching of God's Word and calls Christians to practice biblical discernment.
