In Japan, there is a term Sakura often likes to use called "kikokushijo," meaning Japanese returnee. This refers to children of Japanese parents who have gone abroad, received at least a few years education outside Japan, then returned. Although it seems straightforward, having any experience outside of the "typical" Japanese-born and raised identity poses a lot of questions for people like Sakura who have multicultural upbringing (including "ha-fus," non Japanese-ethnic people raised in Japan, etc.). In this episode, Sakura shares her positive experiences and realistic challenges she has faced with this identity.
