First, Megan looks at some of her favorite 80's rom-coms including "Sixteen Candles", "Pretty in Pink", and "Can't Buy Me Love" before jumping into a novel devoted to rom-coms. Kevin then takes us back to high school with a look at the short lived tv series "Freaks and Geeks" along with a novel focusing on another group not typically represented in the protagonist role. In this week's episode, Kevin and his colleague Scott dig into some questionable lead characters in each of their recommendations. Afterwards, Kevin will examine the flawed detective pair at the heart of season one of HBO's True Detective and compare their actions to that of another hard-boiled detective in his own series of novels.
