Episode 37: Brad Brooks - Owner of Argali Outdoors.

Argali Outdoors is one of my favorite companies in the outdoor industry. Since being introduced to the brand in 2022, I have relied on Argali shelters ever since. Additionally, the men and women behind the scenes are avid wilderness adventurers and we share similar passions.

This is one of the shortest recordings the LIMBITLESS Podcast has produced to date. The episode is limited in length only due to time restraints by the host and guest. Had we been left unrestrained, this content and interaction could have gone on for hours.

Brad and I originally intended to focus on backcountry turkey hunting, but we fell prey to a few topical distractions along the way. Two of the topics being shelters and sleeping bags (of course).

We both agreed a future recording is a must!

Episode 34 is filled with several shared interests. 

The show hosted Bob Barteck, hailing from the State of Wisconsin. Bob is a retired Firefighter/Paramedic, avid backcountry hunter, and a passionate man of faith. When I hit the record button the morning or our recording, I had only one concern, "How long will this episode end up being?" I knew the two of us could potentially sit and talk for hours.

Whether you currently are, have been, are inspiring to be in the fire service, or merely out of curiosity, you are introduced to a snap-shot of Bob's incredible career as Firefighter/Paramedic and Fire Chief. 

This episode covers serving mankind, mental and physical fitness, hunting and serving God. More importantly, how they all tie together.

It is turkey season, and one of my favorite times of the year. Turkey hunting, more specifically backcountry turkey hunting, is rapidly rising to the top of list of my favorite things to do.

In this Waypoint, I wanted to share a fond memory and the reasoning behind the title, "Code Word: "Sesame Street".

In celebration of the topic, I decided to share a few pages from my recently published book, Back - Country Hunting: Pursuing the Trophy of the "Experience". Listen in (the video version is a fowl setting to observe) as I read from one of the final chapters of the book, "Backcountry Ben Franklin Bombers". The final pages of the chapter reveal the meaning and purpose of the code word: Sesame Street.

Please welcome Phil Kepple, owner of 4 Arrows Outdoors to the LIMBITLESS Podcast. I met Phil Kepple at the Archery Trade Association show in 2022 and we have become great friends and brothers in Christ.

The first half of this episode is about how we met, Phil's life and family and his archery shop, 4 Arrows Outdoors. It is my pleasure as a podcast host to share the opportunity to promote Phil's positive impact on the archery community through his pro shop and faith. 

The second half of the show is an incredible journey into the application of faith in the outdoors, and the A3G Initiative. Many questions will be asked during the back half of this episode. How many times is the word "wilderness" mentioned in the Bible? How important is one arrow a day? How does one arrow a day reflect one scripture a day? Are you as prepared in your faith as your in your backcountry endeavors? 

Does the LIMB-itless question, "Are you a hunter, or do you like to hunt?" transition to your spirit by asking, "Are you going to heaven, or do you think you're going to heaven?"

The sport of archery, bowhunting, and venturing into the wilderness has become a popular form of therapy, especially for veterans of the military and the first responder community.

Focusing on the topic of archery, modern studies have validated the therapeutic benefits of the stick and string in relation to the mind and body. I personally have found great improvements in mental health, and my passion for archery hunting motivates me to achieve improved levels of physical fitness.

From a 3-D archery standpoint, non-competitive courses and events have begun to pop-up all over the nation. Some attempting to simulate the rigors of mountainous and backcountry environments. Other organizations are leveraging 3-D archery events to benefit specific communities.

This episode hosts one of the individuals focusing on the veteran community through his newly established non-profit, the Valor Archery Challenge. Tune in as we spend the next hour with Sam Westfall, founder and owner of Valor Archery Challage. Sam is a veteran himself, loves archery, and desires to give back to both communities.

Outdoor and athletic nutrition has become one of the fastest growing and saturated markets in the "anything sports-related" world. Running, bodybuilding, functional fitness, cycling, hunting... The list goes on and on.

I remember back in the 90's, while stationed in Naples, Italy as a young US Navy sailor, I spent half a months pay on the Cybergenics Muscle-building stack. At $140 a cycle, it was a costly attempt at adding 10-15 pounds to my lean body mass. Next in line was Ultimate Orange. Many of us used to slam a dose of Ultimate Orange before semi-annual PT tests or prior to lining up before an adventurous Friday morning command PT session.
