LIMBITLESS Podcast

What starts with two A's and loves archery? Aaron Adams and the LIMBITLESS Podcast host, Aaron Ritter! Yes, this episode is a bit "A A Ron" heavy, but I assure you it is well worth your time.

I met Aaron Adams at the GAS Bowstrings facility in Clay City, Kentucky this past summer while hosting the 2024 A3G Initiative recipient, Dustin Pruett. Aaron is part of the GAS team (more like a family) and a humble professional. While we were face to face, we both agreed we wanted to rip a podcast session together.

A couple months, here we are!

This episode covers multiple topics, including the A3G Initiative event, Aaron's archery background, velvet bucks, the constant battle with deer ticks, and hunting in general.

Enjoy!!!

Episode 23 has been a work in progress for nearly a year. Derek Craig, founder and owner of New Day Outdoors, and I have been trying TO overlap our calendars since we last saw each other at the 2024 Archery Trade Association (ATA) last January.

Between work, family, turkey hunting, show season and a myriad of other outside influences, we have been unsuccessful in sitting down with microphones in our faces until this recent recording.

We could not have asked for better timing, though!!!

This episode dives into our shared love of Hot Shot Archery and some great release discussion, we talk about the ATA, we discuss my potential career change of direction. But most importantly, you as listeners will listen to Derek share his most recent, and one of his most memorable, archery whitetail hunts.

Derek has spent his hunting life pursuing turkey and whitetail on private flatlands. This season he shed his layers of comfort and tackled some hill country public ground, completely breaking his own mold and jumping into a new world of pursuing game.

Listening to Derek share his story, listeners will not just hear, but feel his excitement. Hopefully listening to Derek will inspire others to break out of their comfort zones and do something abnormal. Out of routine. An unknown.

Hopefully this episode will push someone to do hard shit!

Episode 22 was recorded in the living room of the Tyson's Corners Cottage, in Lampasas, Texas, the final evening of the 2024 A3G Initiative Texas Whitetail Hunt.

Blessing the airways during this episode, or on your YouTube screen, are board members Aaron Ritter (your's truly), Michael Sims and Chris Dunlap. More importantly, we are joined with this year's recipient Dustin Pruett.

We take the opportunity to discuss the grant, our "why's", shout out a few sponsors, discuss the hunt, our favorite parts of the weekend, and Dustin voices a few of his favorite parts of the grant and the hunt.

Grab a cold beverage, chill out and give this short Waypoint episode a listen.

I execute a fair amount of travel in pursuit of big game nationwide. Caring for and transporting game is not cheap and should never be an after thought. In my opinion, post-harvest requirements should be given as much attention and planning as any other aspect of the hunt.

Soft-sided coolers are an excellent for transport part or if not all (depending on species) of your game and trophy. Having used several brands, I have become a big fan of Half Rack soft-sided coolers.

How many listeners enjoy hunting in wet boots? How many of you would like a lightweight, packable boot-drying option?

If you answered no, followed by a yes, then this is an episode you need to listen to!

The motivation and ingenuity hardcore hunters bring to the market is impressive. Case in point, Mountain Hunter Outdoors. Founder and owner, Chad Gustavson, is one of those hardcore outdoor enthusiasts contributing to the industry.

Chad has designed not just one packable boot-drying option for the backcountRy or mobile hunter, but TWO! He has just released his second, ultralight version of his packable boot drying fans and my first impression is very positive.

Prior to recording this episode, I ran the boot dryer on my Dark Energy Poseidon Pro for 29 hours straight, on a single charge. Pretty impressive! How will they perform in the wild? I will let you know after I return from my Idaho archery elk hunt (more to follow).

Chad and I dive into several outdoor topics and I look forward another recording session with Mountain Hunter Outdoors.

How mobile is your mobile hunting game? How and where do you deploy your tree saddle setup?

This Waypoint episode provides detailed information on my backcountry tree saddle setup for the 2024-25 big game season. Subtle changes were made from last year's backcountry rig, primarily with my saddle of choice.

This year, the Latitude Outdoors Maverick will be joining me on my wilderness adventures and this Waypoint provides greater detail on the "why", compared to last week's Waypoint which was specifically about my first impressions of the Maverick.

Also for this year, I have modified my Bullman Platform ring of steps and I am switching from my tried and trusted Crispi Thor II boots to Crispi Altitudes.

This Waypoint will be better viewed on YouTube as you will SEE all of the gear I talk about rather than just listen.

A solid human doing great things for others in need is what Episode 20 is all about!

Emily Throckmorton, founder and owner of Kaizen Athletics, is one of those humans who continuously lives her life in the pursuit of benefitting others. Establishing a functional fitness center near the shore front of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Emily decided to focus a portion of her life and business around training and improving the lives of disabled individuals.

Case in point, I was running a road race on the waterfront with the love of my life and a mutual friend. Emily, knowing said mutual friend of mine and my wife's, reached out inquiring about me and my leg.

Emily has an incredible team, obtained certifications and created a non-profit ALL centered around bettering the lives of disabled individuals wishing to improve their quality of life through functional fitness.

This episode hits home for me on SOOOOOO many levels. How does it relate to you as an outdoors person? Functional fitness will greatly impact your pending outdoor adventures and add years to the future of your outdoor endeavors!

Latitude Outdoors continuous to push the envelope of mobile hunting performance. This year, that standard has been elevated to new levels with several new products. This Waypoint episode is focused on the Maverick single-panel saddle.

Yes, LIMB-itless Outdoors will be taking a brake from his trusted Method II saddle, and spend the season suspended over big game animals in the newly released Maverick. From Idaho archery elk to the whitetail woods of the eastern seaboard, tags will be filled from the most lightest and most comfortable single-panel saddle to hit the market.

I agree, proof is in the hours of extended performance, but my initial testing and time in this saddle is more than positive and I encourage anyone looking to upgrade in 2024 to give this saddle a run for its (very worth the) money.

Part 6 of 7 brings a new twist to this hunt series...

Chris Dunlap is no longer able to make the hunt. LIMB-itless Outdoors is off to Idaho for a backcountry hunt with his cousin Michael, who is also an up and coming videographer and film producer.

The result has changed some travel plans, how and where meat will be processed and transported, and how the elk will be engaged with. Not the adjustments desired, but just like adjusting thermals or prevailing winds, we shift on the fly and make things happen.

Michael has been hammering three different Phelp's cow calls and I have been conversing with the young camera man about setups and how or when to call. This will be Michael's first elk hunt and backcountry adventure.

During this episode, I recap a few pieces of new gear I am taking into the backcountry this season. YouTuber's will visually see most of the gear as I share them during the video.

No matter how you cut this pie (I dislike cake), we are going to come out the wilderness with some incredible memories.

A two year journey culminated on the Ritter Ranch, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, opening weekend of the 2024 big game season.

East Coast Nick succeeded in harvesting the following "first's":

- First archery harvest
- First archery deer
- First velvet buck
- First deer harvested on the Ritter Ranch
- First deer loaded in the new UTV
- First deer hoisted by the new Kubota tractor

Not just hours of preparation were involved in this story. Not just days, either. Months! All the layers involved in successfully and safely executing multiple backcountry scouting and hunting trips; Nick is blessed while sharing a blind with your's truly.

If you have the time, catch this episode on YouTube as the recording takes place while Nick butchers his deer while ripping this episode with LIMB-itless Outdoors.
