Chaired by LINXcast host Jez Orbell, this fascinating roundtable discussion features Kurtis Lindqvist (LINX CEO and Euro-IX Chair 2004-2020), John Souter (Director and Treasurer of Euro-IX 2001-2017), Bijal Sanghani (MD of Euro-IX), and Nurani Nimpuno (Euro-IX Board member).

Among the topics covered were the catalysts in establishing Euro-IX, the long-term goals, its greatest achievements, and what would've happened if Euro-IX hadn't been established at all. Would the IXP industry have been more competitive and less collaborative?

This episode of LINXcast marks International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) on the 23rd June 2021. Earlier this year, we hosted an event entitled 'Carer or Career' with the African Peering & Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) as part of their Virtual Peering Series for Africa.

Keynoted by Josephine Nyiranzeyimana, Government Chief Information Officer at the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), the event attracted an interesting response from those attending. The moderator for the discussion was Michelle Opiyo from Workonline Communications.

Her talk, New IP, China's project to make new Internet standards: you must ask the right questions, generated considerable interest.

When news broke that China was seeking to standardise a replacement for TCP/IP through the UN's International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the response from the engineering community in the West was derisive. To understand China's strategy we need to ask questions like how would these proposals assist national strategies in the country? Could all this result in a splinternet, even if we don't need one?
