  • Sean Danielsen/Smile Empty Soul...with Frank Jenks
I have listened [in] to millions of lyrics. And more often than not, Sean Danielsen from SES hits me in the chest with them. I’ve been following and lifting up this band since BOTTOM OF A BOTTLE...and each release (to me) has topped the previous. I would probably rerank them now, but let me say this: their CHEMICALS release, the main subject matter for this conversation, is a masterpiece. Sonically and lyrically, it is top shelf! We met up in Cereal City, USA on 10.3.13...and then I hit record prior to their soundcheck. -Frank

  • G. Love...with Frank Jenks
I always like to guys who like to hoop it up...not that I have any sort of vertical. I present to you a guy who can make it rain...G. Love. I’ve been really moved by whatever kind of mumbo-jumbo he puts into his musical gumbo...and I was so happy he took the time...and pleased you are taking the time to listen [in] to this Philly based man. This was recorded GR, MI on 4.11.09 on some really nasty backstage couches. -Frank

  • Brendan James...with Frank Jenks
Sometimes you bump into music. I bumped into Brendan James. Honest. He’s a music man. A searching for purpose man. ...wondering and wandering around this earth, and trying to make sense. What a great bump into. So we made it a point to keep connecting until he finished his new record...which turned out fantastic (there’s my review of it): It's entitled SIMPLIFY. He actually sunk his piano and words into my chest...where my personal rejection builds up. Turns out, he and me, and probably we...are on the same path. We did this by means of Skype on 9.24.13, because NC and MI are not all that close. -Frank

  • Chris Daughtry...with Frank Jenks
This was my third interview, with the genuinely nice guy Chris Daughtry...he’s a guy who knows how to put it in the grooves, and write about how us guys feel and deal. Life never handed him anything growing up. And now he’s one hard working musician who works out hard. He's successful on the charts, on stage, and in the weight room. We got together prior to his show in Battle Creek, MI on 2.1.13...and let me say, it was cold that day. -Frank

  • Jon Foreman/Switchfoot...with Frank Jenks
I so didn’t mean to put Jon Foreman on the spot...based on his whirlwind world of touring and creating on-the-go it seems...I guess the great thing is, for this lead singer of SWITCHFOOT, he’s pretty agile. I would think you have to be, waking up in a new city or new country every day. I love each time I’ve opened my traveling microphone w Jon Foreman...and that’s why we keep on talking. This happened at Calvin College, in MI on the 29th of Sept, 2011. -Frank

  • Plumb...with Frank Jenks
You know how when a conversation is more than what you’d expected? Time becomes irrelevant, and part of life seems significant. When we share thoughts and experiences, and they connect in some micro-intersection of our understanding. Here Plumb, shares. She reveals. She gives us a free view of her, and the grace that pulled her through. I recorded this on 12.3.12 via Skype, between our two proverbial corners of the house... Faith is an amazing thing. - Frank

  • Drew Holcomb...with Frank Jenks
Every time I meet another person who likes to golf, it seems like we connect faster. I hope Drew Holcomb and I hit the links someday. We definitely drove it down the center on a bunch of his songs and "other" important topics in this conversation. And Drew has such a casual way of confronting stuff that he's obviously done a thoroughgoing through...and I would say he's waxing poetic with his lyrics. With his words. Though I'm pretty sure he'd never say that about himself. Ah, yes, that's what I loved about Drew...his humility. Yep, that's it. Never a moment when he seemed put off. ...I sure hope we tee it up. This was recorded via Skype on June 7, 2013 between MI and TN...but it felt like we were in a cart together. -Frank

  • Sammy Hagar...with Frank Jenks
I could have talked to Sammy all night...it’s too bad concerts get in my way! :) I’d tried many times to get my traveling microphone in front of Sammy Hagar, and when I did, it was totally worth it (as you will hear). Most people give me “goofy eyes” that I find real depth to his songs, but when you listen [in] to this in its entirety, you’ll hear what I hear. You’ll see what I see. This took place in Michigan prior to his Chickenfoot show on August 13, 2009. And you will feel the aliveness flowing through this human being, being human. -Frank

  • The World Is A Beautiful Place...with Frank Jenks
As you will hear starting off, I was sucked in by the band name. I was completely upfront, and so were they. And I still love these guys. So I'm on this mission to find anything and everything that connects deep within our framework. Within our soul. I've found more. Here. With this conversation with The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die. Now, just because I want to throw the "profound blanket" over most all their songs and lyrics...doesn't mean they were specifically intended for such higher ground. Yet, I totally believe we are on similar paths. This took place in Michigan at a picnic table in a park, under the bluest skies on July 13, 2013. -Frank

  • Mark Tremonti...with Frank Jenks
Not sometimes. Every time. Each and every time I look forward to talking with one of the kindest guys I’ve met in the rock-n-roll world. Mark Tremonti. I’ve met him on Creed tours. On Alter Bridge tours. He’s the real deal. ...in this occasion, he was on the verge of releasing his first “solo” release...and as you will hear, he profoundly put his all in to it. So, while it might be...it doesn’t seem like a SIDE project. This was recorded on September 20, 2012 in Flint, MI at The Machine Shop. -Frank
