  • Relient K...with Frank Jenks
So I'm cruising around backstage, as I'm one to do (I must seem very innocuous)...and I slyly step into Relient K's dressing room to see Matt Hoopes completely immersed. Like, he doesn't even notice I walked in. He's producing. On his MacBook Pro. Once he pulls off his headphones, I think he doesn't want to stop...but he graciously says that he "needs to." Alright, that's good, because I'm ready with open microphones to dive into Relient K world and get a different Matt perspective than I'm used to. What you're about to hear is utmost realness. -Frank

  • Jim Adkins/Jimmy Eat World...with Frank Jenks
Maybe one of favorite interviews happened AFTER this one with me. Jim Adkins had to go do a radio thing...where I heard the most inane questions, and he just gave him the perfunctory one word answers. Trust me. It bordered on disrespectful. Reminded me that all people, deserve respect. Maybe that’s why artists take the time with me. I love it that what Jimmy Eat World has recorded and performed has impacted many people. Including me. -Frank

  • Brandi Carlile...with Frank Jenks
So many friends and other music people told me Brandi Carlile was one artist in which I NEEDED to connect. I was fortunate to get to sit down with my traveling microphones in Grand Rapids, MI at the beautiful Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Sunny outside...just the way I found Brandi to be...on the inside. -Frank

  • Peter Himmelman...with Frank Jenks
Talking with Peter Himmelman is easy for me...adding David Hollander to the mix made it fantastic! The put together a band(?) or a the very least, a stellar set of recordings under the name MINNESOTA. And trust me, the word “stellar” is an undersell. We plow throw this project and unearth differing thoughts...from all three of us really. It is time well spent, in Minnesota. -Frank

  • John Elefante...with Frank Jenks
Always thought I would bump into John Elefante in my music business travels...but it was not to be. So when he planned to release his solo project ON MY WAY TO THE SUN, I reached out. He was more than kind and flexible to speak with me. We go from Kansas to Mastedon to solo projects. Great conversation. - Frank

  • Alice Cooper...with Frank Jenks
I had met Alice Cooper a few times prior...even golfed a few holes with him (he's good, I'm trying). If you really dive into his lyrics, and his performances (actions!) you'll notice he's been trying to "scare the hell out of people" for years. You gotta love that. He's a gracious man, and knows when to be serious and when to be fun loving. - Frank

  • Miles Doughty & C-Money/Slightly Stoopid...with Frank Jenks
It was great to walk on the Slightly Stoopid tour bus and meet Miles Doughty straightaway. C-Money was there too...and joins in a few different times. You know how when you meet people and everything is cool? That’s exactly how it was for me...and that makes for good talk. - Frank

  • Michael Sweet/Stryper...with Frank Jenks
This was my fault. I thought Stryper was too Jesus-y...so why? And so time passes and so does Stryper, and Michael Sweet’s solo career. Then he tours with Boston. Oh! I am now paying attention again. Then I read his wife passed away of cancer. “How does anyone! get through that?” Michael was genuine and super friendly as you will hear. We talk about everything, including getting remarried. You'll love this. -Frank

  • TobyMac...with Frank Jenks
If you’ve followed my interview path, you know TobyMac and I have sat down several times with open microphones. Here, we had to get real, and get real fast to do our dealio during halftime of some March Madness. Here are the facts: I love TobyMac. He and I both love hoops and golf...so that always helps. And we’re both pretty honest guys, with families, and a sincere hope for the days we are living in. Keep your EAR ON IT! -Frank

  • Michael Rock/Temple Of Thieves...with Frank Jenks
Every time I get a new record, I still hope I’m opening the next Nirvana. So I hit play on the debut release from TOT, and it grabbed me. Then, of course, I start paying attention to the lyrics...as I’m one to do. And they were not super uplifting. Yet there was something intriguing...I asked if Michael Rock would want to talk about his lyrics...and I am so glad he did. This one is why I love my job. -Frank
