Good, but the story is NOT an annotated work.

While this is a good text of the original story By Poe, it is important to know that it is NOT "Annotated."

While there is a separate book about Poe included with this, making well worth the price, the actual story is not annotated

with additional information, references, and historical information usually found within an annotated work.

Almost seems you are there....

The very first sentence sucks you into the story. It is a short story of revenge. I honestly didn't find anything to dislike. A story of fiction but it does describe, in my opinion, the darkness of humanity. Most human beings would not dare act this story out. But I'm sure lots of us have imagine scenarios at one point in our lives where we would like to play it out in reality.

This is an abridged recording, not unabridged as the description states.

Very disappointed with this audio version. The sample recording sounded great, which is why I purchased it. The description says "unabridged" and it is not. There are parts missing making it hard for a student to follow along with the text. Hoping I can get a refund.

Great job

This is one of my favorite stories. The translation was great. I love the way the translations have hyperlinks. I think all dual language kindle books should be set up this way.

A Mystery at Sea

Well... most of this story took place at sea. I downloadedthe free kindle versionof this short story not really knowing what to expect. Turns out, it is a bit of a mystery.

The opening pages indicate there should be illustrations - but they are missing. The end of this ebook has a nice summary of the author's life and famous relatives.

People who are knowledgeable of sailing terminology will enjoy this story very much. About 75% of it takes place on a ship. The lingo flies and is woven into this tale since it is being narrated by a First Mate. I didn't have any trouble following the story even though I know nothing about sailing.

The plot can be summed up by this great line: "Some people don't seem to be so dead, when they are dead..."

A great short read especially if you spend a lot of time on the water.

Entertainment values for the brutality that serve lemming social structures have plenty of double or nothing life values that Poe describes for a character who commonly says:

I bet the devil my head.

Half of my life (since September 4, 1980) has been spent in a puzzle about intellectual death wish sweepstakes tropes that arise from power trips involving a large number of somebody else to do the fighting. Back in 1980, quick contests with clear victories seemed like the best kind of cultural advance for the intellectual trying to bring the intensity of rock and roll to considerations which might kill Kierkegaard if he ran out of money and a crowd of kids were making fun of his twisted mortal flesh. Writers who had an unusual early death can be compared to a number of drug overdoses that come close to a line in a Bob Dylan song:

but he drinks, and drinks can be fixed.

I think the line is about one of the characters inFoot Of Pride (Album Version).

O Henry simultaneously delights and punishes his readers while leading them through a myriad of details and emotions using the most complexificated verbiage possible. His stories are complex and timeless; settings richly detailed and is a master wordsmith. This book is definitely going in my read and re-read stack.

I expected this to be like the short story, but it's a bit different. It goes through a mans choices and shows that no matter what he would choose, his destiny would be the same.

If you've ever regretted making a choice thinking that you're life would have been different, then this is the story for you! O Henry's unique style of writing will introduce you to story filled of mystery, suspense and of course a decision. A decision which will lead a certain main character to three roads of which he must choose from.

Now what's alluring about this story is that all three outcomes are shared. And curiously enough they end up having crazy, yet shocking endings. This book will definitely make you think twice about all the decisions you've made in the past. We may think the decisions me make will make a huge difference in our future, yet this story adds a certain twist to the phrase "life changing decisions". What if those "life changing decisions" we make are worth nothing, because ultimately we all have the same outcome? Would that change the way you make your decisions from now on? These are some questions that left me speechless with doubt. I loved the way this book made me think. It was wonderful! O Henry's morbid style of writing and wry outcomes will insure you and definite good read!
