When faced with a difficult decision, Joseph Badaracco wants you to gather information like a manager and make a decision like a human being. Meaning, there are plenty of processes to use to get to the bottom of a tricky situation, but in the end you need to rely on your own best judgement - whether you're Tim Cook of Apple deciding whether or not to work with the US Government or you're a mid-level manager who might have to fire somebody. The author of Managing in the Gray joins us for some examples of other people who have had to rely on their own judgement when there weren't any answers in the employee handbook.

Leading and managing in the information age
Instareadâs Summary, Analysis & Review of Ken Blanchardâs and Spencer Johnsonâs The New One Minute Manager is a comprehensive overview of an update of the 1982 book, The One Minute Manager. This brief summary, which can be read in less than 15 minutes, is a detailed look at the update of a book that emphasizes management strategies that focus on leading without micromanaging. It discusses the three main themes of the book, showing how they apply to the current workforce, complete with references on the evolution of leadership and management in the information age.
With the sheer number of new self-help books available, a guide such as this is helpful in winnowing the wheat from the chaff and making the decision on which books are worthy of the investment of time and money. After reading this summary, the busy reader can know beforehand if this is a book that should be added to his or her reference library.
AS FUNDAMENTALLY CRITICAL AND IMPORTANT TO MANAGEMENT SUCCESS ... AS EINSTEIN'S MC2 IS TO PHYSICS
This is an overview of the actual book "The New One-Minute Manager.â Kind of like an abbreviated âCliff's Notesâ for the FULL copy. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding the bookâs content to determine if we want to invest the money and time to actually purchase and read the entire printed copy or E-version. I read Blanchard's original version of this book after being promoted to my first management position over forty years ago. I was absolutely 'thunderstruck' then, and the book's principles remained with me through my recent retirement and even now !!! From Instaread's outline, it appears this new release has been updated with millennials in mind. At .99 cents, the overview provides a good service and is one of the chief reasons I have personally found âInstareadâ to be a valuable tool.
Great summary of a business classic
Well-written summary of an updated classic. The original One Minute Manager reminded me of the Og Mandino book, The Greatest Salesman in the World in that this is a parable that follows one manager. The basic principle is that the manager doesn't direct or interfere but rather stands back, watches, and leads by example. The book itself is a fast, informative read and I enjoyed the original book. This summary covers all the important points and gives the reader a good overview of what it's about. I highly recommend it as a companion to the full book, or as a self-contained read if you want to save time.
Summary on how to be a better manager
This summary of "The New One Minute Manager" is well done. The book discusses how to become a good manager by being more of an observer. "New One Minute Managers" focus on results and people. The summary includes a brief overview on what the overall book is about and then lists and analyzes nine key takeaways that highlight the main points of the original book. If you are a manager or would like to be one, I think that this summary would be worth looking at.

    Author: Instaread
    Narrator: Susan Murphy
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 27 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-08-16
    Publisher: Instaread
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
    Genres: Business, Management
    Publisher's Summary:
The Anatomy of Peace: Resolving the Heart of Conflict, Second Edition, is an expanded version, including additional appendices, of a successful 2006 publication by the Arbinger Institute. The book, which uses fictional characters to illustrate its points, details strategies for defusing political, personal, and business conflicts. It argues that conflict must be approached with a heart at peace rather than a heart at war. Before people can change another's behavior, they must rid themselves of hatred and self-deception.
Lou Herbert, a fictional businessman, has come to Arizona with his wife, Carol, to enroll their son Cory, who is a drug addict, in a wilderness retreat for struggling youth. Lou also faces a crisis in his business. He is in the middle of a labor dispute and many of his top managers have recently quit.

(FACETS) IN THE 'ANATOMY OF PEACE'
This is an overview of the actual book â .â Kind of like an abbreviated âCliff's Notesâ for the FULL book. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding the originalâs content to determine if we want to invest the money and time to actually purchase and read the entire printed copy or E-version. This is a book that attempts to 'teach' through "fictional analogy." It serves a very complex function that many will be attracted to and others - not so much. That's why, at only .99 cents, this Instaread overview provides a good "snap-analysis" to help you better understand its 'theme' and is one of the chief reasons I have personally found âInstareadâ to be a valuable tool.
    Peace and resolution
"The Anatomy of Peace" is a book by the Arbringer Institute that uses fictional characters to illustrate it points about defusing political, personal, and business conflicts. However, this is just a summary of that book.
Instaread explores the most important elements of "The Anatomy of Peace" and explains how to resolve conflicts in a concise manner. The 8 key takeaways presented in this review are simple, effective, and easy to remember. They cover topics such as why we need to empathize with others, how self-betrayals are justified, and how authenticity and relationships are built. I highly recommend this summary because it takes a thick book and simplifies it for the busy individual to read. I was given an advance copy.
How we can all get along
Summary, Analysis & Review of The Arbinger Instituteâs The Anatomy of Peace by Instaread is a comprehensive look at another Arbinger Institute book. This one uses fictional characters and situations to show how to defuse political, business, and personal disputes. This brief overview, which can be read in less than 15 minutes, is a detailed discussion of the main themes of the book, and, itself offers some keys to identifying and mitigating conflict.
This Cliff Notes-style book is a handy tool for assessing self-help books. With the vast number of self-help books on the market, a tool like this is a time- and money-saver for busy readers.
Good summary on how to solve conflict peacefully
This is a summary "The Anatomy of Peace" and is not the actual book.

    Author: IntroBooks
    Narrator: Andrea Giordani

    Release date: 10-27-16
    Publisher: IntroBooks
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 5 votes
    Genres: Business, Management
    Publisher's Summary:
Theory of constraints is a methodology that is used by the people to identify the constraints that are standing as a hindrance in the process of accomplishing the organization's goals besides improvising the constraint to ensure that it does not stand as an obstacle. To be precise, the limitation has to be shaped in such a way that it no longer would be a constraint. Basically, in the manufacturing industry, constraint is referred by the name called bottleneck. As per the theory of constraint, each and every process that is being carried out has a constraint. It is crucial for the organizations in their respective industry to assimilate the constraints to facilitate the whole process. Without improving the constraints, it is not possible for the organizations to improve the entire process. This is better explained with an example. If someone has handed you a match box and asked you to count. Then, to start the count you would remove the match sticks from the box and after counting you would arrange them back in the box properly. So, the constraint in this is how soon the match box is handed over to you. Did the time have an impact on your counting speed? Would you have counted the matchsticks in the box more quickly if the match box was handed over to you a little bit before? Basically, this is how the constraint will help to boost the process.

    Release date: 10-21-16

Six Thinking Hats can help you think better, with its practical and uniquely positive approach to making decisions and exploring new ideas. It is an approach that thousands of business managers, educators, and government leaders around the world have already adopted with great success.
"The main difficulty of thinking is confusion," writes Edward de Bono, long recognized as the foremost international authority on conceptual thinking and on the teaching of thinking as a skill. "We try to do too much at once. Emotions, information, logic, hope, and creativity all crowd in on us. It is like juggling with too many balls."

Through case studies and real-life examples, Dr. de Bono reveals the often surprising ways in which deliberate role-playing can make you a better thinker. He offers a powerfully simple tool that you - and your business, whether it's a start-up or a major corporation - can use to create a climate of clearer thinking, improved communication, and greater creativity. His combination of expertise and easy-to-grasp teaching veers close to genius for a support desk reference. When it comes to the tasks facing a new manager, here is the kind of wisdom you need: How do I interview and hire quality people? How can I delegate effectively? What makes a great team, and great team-work, in the fast-paced environment of help-desks and the support field? These all-important topics make the book an ideal choice to include in any hiring package for new managers. Phil's unique insights will be useful for the seasoned manager, too. Sections on ITIL, discipline, hiring, tool selection, measuring and managing performance, along with easy-to-implement metrics, will serve the newbie and the sage equally well. Crafted in an approachable style and format, Service Desk Manager's Crash Course doesn't tell, it shows. Via clear examples and revealing anecdotes, Phil demonstrates that the job of a help desk manager can be a satisfying role built around a magnetic idea. Easy Read
The concepts in the book are very helpful and well explained. It's an easy read with lots of great information concerning the Help Desk functions.
    Five Stars
    Basics covered quickly
    Great Book!
This book is short and to the point. Don't let that fool you. It's got some down to earth advice and tips that even non techie managers should know.
    Ripoff
80 pages of headings and bullet-points shouldn't qualify as a book. While what is said may be relevant, the same info can be easily googled.
Complete waste of paper and money.
Pretty much the worst book I have ever purchased. Only 82 pages, over 10 of which are filler. Poorly written, poor grammar and punctuation, exact same graphic on pages 67 & 68, very little relevant content, the list goes on... This was a complete waste of money for me and I would not recommend this for anyone, even if it was free.

    Marvelously Insightful
Marvelously insightful. In the first few pages, though, I was a little put off by the story form of the book, but by page 5, I could see that it was an excellent way to present the material. It helped make it a quick, easy read without sacrificing any of the substance, and in fact, the story format helped reinforce the key points. I've been in IT for over 30 years, read a lot about IT strategy, and had a hand in formulating several IT strategy document. This is the best book I've read on the subject. Not everything will pertain to your organization, so don't be put off by any one element you might disagree with. The primary messages about the value of IT in the context of the Organization and the role of a strategy are spot on, in my humble opinion.
    A Book On Strategy That's A Real Page-Turner
Let me start by saying that I had the pleasure and privilege of working directly with Chris at the last company I worked for.
The work that Chris undertook with my colleagues and me was ground-breaking, and even though it turned our world upside down, for all of the right reasons, it was an enjoyable and illuminating journey.
This book, which is an inspired piece of writing, bears absolutely no resemblance to any other book on strategy, IT or otherwise, that I have read. Most of these books are long, dry and, I have to say, almost unintelligible.

    fast delvery and good product
My first of several reads regarding TQM. Will read it a 2nd time and incorporate many ideas into my business.
My company has and continues to grow and is now running into system constraints at 300+ employees. We have no choice but to upgrade quality systems along with improved engineering practices. This book was good enough for a 2nd detailed read. Even though the copyright is a bit dated, the principles of human nature don't change.
    Quality Textbook
This book explains the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM), which is a management strategy that seeks to embed awareness of quality in all organizational processes. TQM requires that an organisation maintain quality standard in all aspects of its business. This entails ensuring that things are done right the first time and that defects and waste are eliminated from operations.
ISO defines TQM is a management approach of an organization, centered on quality, based on the participation of all its members and aiming at long-term success through customer satisfaction, and benefits to all members of the organization and to society.
The book explains how 51 companies in a wide range of industries successfully employed TQM to achieve outstanding success.
This is a great book for any manager from any company, large or small, in a manufacturing or service organisation.
How should TQM be implemented, read the examples!
he Baldrigde Quality System quantifies the quality of a company with a score from zero to a thousand points. Even the best companies are far behind the thousand point limit, but the writers found 53 examples that, at least for one aspect, owe almost the maximum of the available points. Ben&Jerry's, Ford, 3M and AT&T are just a few of the companies that have provided information for the book. Still the book is not a list of 'perfect case examples' but the writers managed to let the theory and practice explain solutions to daily problems and improved management techniques. Although none of the issues dealt with is explained in the smallest detail or with an extensive number of examples, but this books provides a broad view for new managers or managers new to TQM.
