Members Reviews:
Good, basic information, but I can't connect with it and it doesn't hold me
The book seems to me more like a broad overview and collection of information than a how to book. At least in parts of the book. Other parts do give some direct advice, albeit it feels a bit rushed.
I have to admin that I only read less than half because it just didn't captivate me, speak to me or gave me new information. After making it through about 30% I skipped a bit ahead to items I thought would interest me, but even these didn't hold me.
Personally I rated it a two star for me, but there may be enough information in it for others, so I rated it three stars.
I get the feeling that readers who have lots of information already about the topic won't be finding (much) new and for the readers who could really benefit from the information the writing style may not be engaging enough.
The writing style at many points seems more of a detached third party collecting information for a study rather than a how to trying to convince the reader to take action.
Excellent return on value
Money Mind Choices delves right into the personal psychology impacting our financial decisions and focuses on methods and resources available to improve them.
The book makes the case for the value of the emotional components of key decision making and the importance of emotional awareness.
Compels us to grasp the power of our mind and to continue to shape our own patterns of thinking by taking advantage of its neuroplasticity.
The book contains practical, achievable, real world strategies designed for application and material impact. Very grounded, sound, and practical advice which is very quotable and full of short takeaways for further exploration. This is a where a rubber meets the roads approach to establishing a mental framework congruent with personal and financial success.
A helpful and highly practical book!
In this book, Carol not only provides sound financial advice; she also integrates that advice with principles of positive psychology and methods of organization to help readers find balance in their lives. She makes a great case that if we don't have our finances in order, it's hard for the other pieces of our life to fall calmly into place. She also provides several tools for planning and decision making that make our "money mind choices" manageable, even in the midst of busy lives. A helpful and highly practical book!
Excellent advice to anyone!
Money Mind Choices is not just another investment book. It is a book on how to get your life on track.
