Uno de los pocos ,muy buen libro en español latino..cinco estrellas..Voces con carisma sobre todo cuñado cambia a otro personaje.

Me alegro haber escuchado este libro. Me sorprendió varias veces y eso me gusta en las novelas. La única razón que no puse 5 estrellas fue porque el cuento se desarrollaba muy despacio en ciertas partes y me aburría un poco. PERO, todavía lo recomiendo. Los narradores fueron buenísimos!

Kept unfolding more twists and turns

This was one of the best Ruth Rendell mysteries I have read (of many). Somehow, even though you know both the crime and the culprit from the first chapter, the unveiling of the lives of all the senior citizens affected dozens of years after the event is absorbing. While things are tied up more or less neatly at the end, you will not find what you thought will happen has happened. Rendell gets the reader into the psyche of several characters who met as children during WWII, and how life has warped or injured them, and how they have survived when they all re-meet much later in life. While you don't necessarily like the characters, Rendell has made you care about what they will do. Really enjoyed this long book, and as ever, the map of London in front of you always helps with Rendell's excellent evocation of scenery.

ANOTHER EXCELLENT RENDELL NOVEL

It's a love story, it's a mystery with a twist, it's good. Rendell always gives the annoying people a good kick, I like that.

If you're a fan, don't miss this one.

I first saw this book on the shelves of a store in Australia. I read the book jacket, and it promised to be engaging. Right from the start of the work, the reader knows who is killed, who did it, and why. But, it's not until sixty years later that the bodies are discovered and the crime investigated. That worked.

Well Done

Good story, great writing and character development. And you'll learn something. Not sure you'll ever use what you learned but it's still interesting and good to know.

Alaska is the star of this book

This book is set in Alaska, and the author does a terrific job in bringing the land to life. I'm not always able to see the surroundings in other books as well as I did in this one. The characters and the story did not pull me in quite as much, although the book did start out strong. It's about primal, animal natures (in humans and wolves), and the author takes this very interesting underside of the human condition in a direction that may not please everybody. What is primal to some may seem senseless to others. I wished some of the characters had their beliefs challenged more - not to change them, but just to make it more interesting. At the end, there could be more resolution, so if that bothers you, you might not like this one.

so many twists in the story that takes place in a familiar background. the performance of the reader is fantastic.

Struggling to get past the 4th chapter

I don't know if it's the simplistic and uninteresting writing style or the annoyingly crackly, broken voice talking to me like I was 8 years old that frustrates me more. I don't usually regard my self as a quitter - but I doubt I will finish this book.

This is how you merge your characters.

Author brings these charactors together so artfully!! She gets into the heads of each characters personality. And she nails school gossip and school parents to a tee.

I really really enjoyed this book.

First of all it was read very well and this is to me as important as the content of the book. (I cant listen to a great book that is poorly read).

Big Little Lies was a "page turner" for me and the twist in the story did catch me by surprise.

I loved all the inner dialogues of people, their hidden thoughts and feelings, so human. I most appreciated how the story includes the trivial, the funny and the more profound human fears and joys. I am about to purchase another book of the Liane and hope it is as good as this one.

Delightful story with all of the elements: mystery, comedy, suspense, and romance. Nicely structured and topical. The author has captured beautifully the antics of school parents.

Fascinating and surprisingly fresh

Where does The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

The book was my first audiobook ever, and I loved the experience. Peter Kenny was fantastic, with his voice and accents, and all the heart he poured into this. Looking forward to hear more of him.

What other book might you compare The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August to and why?

I can't recall books similar to this one. It was something like Groundhog Day meets Edge of Tomorrow, but way more epic and sophisticated. It is deeply rooted in the reality, spanning across decades and intertwined with the most interesting periods and event in the history of the world as we know it, but also giving us a glimpse at the world that could have been but wasn't. Or won't be.

No I haven't, but I definitely will.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cringed upon hearing the detailed descriptions of substance abuse and physical harm. It was as if my body was experiencing it by itself.

Un chef d'œuvre livré par la superbe voix de l'auteur

Que demander de mieux? Impossible! Cette histoire, chacun des personnages, les lieux sordides ou splendides, et la voix de l'auteur, si présent, m'a gardée éveillé jusqu'à tard dans la nuit. Je crois que je vais écouter ce livre encore et encore.

Un merveilleux moment malgré le thème difficile.

Du plaisir du début jusqu'à la fin. Très bien conté par l'auteur.

J'aurai sans doute aimé une fin un peu plus étalée dans le temps mais il faut accepter que les meilleures choses ont toujours une fin.
