Read the (fantastic) book instead

I am a newly avid fan of Jo Nesbo. Having read all of his books that are currently available in English, I've now begun listening to them via audio books. "Nemesis" is an excellent story, but the narrator choice was terribly misguided. This is particularly amplified if you have perviously listened to a Nesbo book narrated by Robin Sachs. Sachs is a perfect fit for the main character Harry Hole, a 40 year old crusty, alcoholic police detective. Thor Knai sounds like a college kid. Knai might be good for some other genre, but has none of the depth of character portraying Hole or the wide range in depicting the other characters,

Seeing as there are two versions of "The Devil's Star" (one narrated by Sach and another by Sean Barrett), I truly hope "Nemesis" will be re-recorded using Sachs.

What a difference a narrator makes

Couldn't listen to the narrator after five minutes. And I've just listened to three other Nesbo books in the Harry Hole series in the last two weeks. It's the narrator...who is markedly less effective in reading this Norwegian novel translation than Robin Sachs. Perhaps he can read a western...dunno...but this book is way out of his skill set. So disappointing that Nesbo and Audible ought to bite the bullet and pay Robin Sachs to redo this version...I bought the book...I'm reading it on my Iphone Kindle app...

Great writer! WORST narrator in all of Audible!

Poor Jo Nesbo. He is truly a good thriller/mystery writer and I have listened to this book and The Snowman. The Snowman was read by the excellent Robin Sachs. This one was read by the single worst narrator I have ever heard. Horrific pacing, bizarre pronunciation and dialect that is all over the place - even Hispanic at times!!!! I am certain Knai is not a professional narrator. Do yourself a favor - get the book and read it in hardcopy. Then listen to the rest of Nesbo's books as read by Sachs.

Great Book, Tragic Narration.

I rarely slam a book, rarely write a flat-out negative review but Thor Knai's narration killed this book for me. I simply could not finish it. I will buy the book in paper format and just read it.

Struggling to listen to this audiobook, the narrator reads it in an unnatural sing song voice. This does not match the harsh reality of the story. Will try and persevere

I wish I had read the other review before buying this audio book, The narrator makes the book hard to listen to. I've tried listening to it over and over again but cannot take the story line in due to the way its being read. An utter waste of money! Extremely disappointing.

It's not supernatural, it's just super...

Charlaine Harris hits it out of the park with this suspenseful thriller. We knew she could write about vampires and werewolves, here she shows that she can write about real life as well. Aurora Teagarden is a great character in this excellent series. listen soon.

A very good book

I enjoyed this book, just as I have enjoyed all of the Aurora Teagarden series. The writing was engaging and entertaining. However, I felt that the ending was a bit far fetched. It's a good read and I reccomend it to everyone who likes cozy mysteries.

I laughed, I cried

What made the experience of listening to Dead Over Heels the most enjoyable?

I just enjoy the characters that this author creates. They are like some of my friends and I can identify with most of them. Having grown up in a small town I understand the dynamics that are going on.

The things that Aurora says are so real life, and she has a quirky sense of humor

Each book in the series is better than the first!!

The story was excellent and kept my attention from the first to the very end and I wanted more.

Lil bit churchy...

I read a lot of historical churchy fiction (Shardlake) and the churchiness isnt annoying. Maybe it was churchiness together with barren lady envy of pregnant friend that was annoying. And really clean I go to church but Im really sexy-ness. I dont know. Its a good church lady mystery...

The Narrator Makes the Book

This is a perfect example of how a narrator makes or breaks a story. First book in this series (The Cleaner) was not an excellent book but a fun listen, read by Scott Brick. It prompted me to buy the remaining two books in the series. The second book (The Deceived) may or may not have been just as good a story but they changed narrators and his read changed the entire personalities of the characters; and not for the better. The third installment, read by Brick again made this book enjoyable again. I have said it before but I will never understand why some series change narrators mid-stream. For anyone that enjoys listening to series, like Bosch, Bolitar, Reacher, begin to identify the characters with the voice and when it changes it alters the listening experience.

Can't go wrong with Brett Battles!

Another phenomenal suspense book from Brett Battles. Jonathan Quinn and his team face off against another foe...this one a familiar character from The Cleaner. Taut plot, lightning pace, edge of your seat suspense. Enjoy!

Too Convoluted

The Battles series is taunted as fast-paced thrillers. I found the 'fast-pace' to be contrived and forced. The mystery was not well developed and the reader was not taken along with the story. The introduction to the story, the characters and the plot was poor leaving me to wonder 'what is going on?' and when is the 'action' going to start?' The story was all over the globe, literally. This made it a little confusing for me. I am sure it was the intention of the author to build suspense and mystery but it seemed to me to be convoluted. I wasn't able to determine what the 'bad guys' were doing and how it was suppose to impact the 'good guys'. Nobody was clued into anything until the end. This would have been okay but the end was weak and didn't tie up loose ends. I was prepared for this because this is a series but I wanted some closure and this book was fared and underdeveloped.

I always enjoy Scott Brick's performance.
