The story about the songs: Jeff Berkley gave a title to a few friends who each wrote a song to the title then gathered a few weeks later to play it. He called it The Game and it inspired me to write my own songs, something I had never done before. With musical enhancement and emotional encouragement from Matt Silvia, the songs began to blossom so we decided to record a dozen of them. Each song’s subject matter and style varies considerably from the next, prompting me to call the collection Mood Swing.
I’ve since adopted The Game as a ListenLocalsd.com event and it continues to inspire countless songwriters throughout San Diego and beyond. I often get credit for The Game and Jeff Berkley credits Steve Poltz, Bob Schneider and Glen Phillips but who ever is responsible, one thing is for sure… you’ll be seeing these titles again soon.
Thanks to Jeff Berkley for the inspiration and production and to all the crazy talented musicians who added their personal touch to make the songs come alive. Love to my family for support and to San Diego’s local music scene and all who support it. Thanks to The Ordeal for being the best band ever and to my handsome husband for loving me and my special words. Cathryn
