Uplifting

I read this during a time in my life that I felt like I'm surrounded with lemons and don't know what to do with them. It has helped me see in my own life how God is using circumstances to glorify him and has really helped change my perspective on life. God is good and so is this book!

inspirational sweet stories- very encouraging and comforting to the heart

I bought his book in a time of extreme need from a painful situation -

The stories are all written in chicken-for-soup fashion but all are based off of some sort of scripture or God's promise- and discuss how God helped them or turned situation that seemed awful around for the individual's good -

even though it might seem dismal and gray - blue skies are ahead- that is the theme of book -

many short stories so you can read a couple a night or just one at a time- was a great buy - also would be a great gift!

I love true stories. Light hearted and feel good stories. Great for getting your mind off your problems. I did not give 4 stars, because I have to have a book that makes me not want to put it down.

I enjoy reading anthologies- especially ones made up of real people's stories. This book is an inspiring and a wonderful read. I limited myself to one story a day. Had I not, I would have read the book in a day!. I totally recommend this book to anyone who loves reading Christian inspirational non-fiction.

Helpful, unnecessary religion and pseudo science at end

For those looking for a road map or psychological understanding of grief, this title will start out well enough, aided by sincerity on the part of the author giving authenticity. The final chapters however, dissolve into an unfocused religious and new age pseudo science style attempt to comfort readers that likely cannot please those with a specific religion or those with none at all. These chapters would have likely been better served appendix if better researched.

Touching but realistic and objective

I like the narration, very simple, casual and from the heart. Left me with a good and optimistic feeling knowing the spirit of our loved one will be with us.

TOPS. Only one who has experienced such a catastrophic loss could write such a heartbreaking book.

What did you like best about this story?

Its honesty and its hope. Ms.Warchola loved her father as much as I loved my Mom (I'm sorry if I'm getting too personal but this book is written for this particular person) . The second half of the book--though is sounds silly to all scientists--she visits mediums, seance type people--and finds odd and totally strange ways of communicating--I don't say talking--to her father. I've never done this and I'm not saying I will. But for a non religious person it offers a tiny ray of hope that maybe death is not the completely absolute end.

The incidents with her father: he scratched her beloved red car by cleaning it too hard,and his pet (horrible) name for her, "pussycat" rang bells in my head of similar incidents I've had and any one who has lost a dear and unconditionally loving parent has had.

Have you listened to any of Amy Simpsons other performances? How does this one compare?

Just perfect---I had to keep looking at the narrator as I thought it was Mandy talking to me from her broken heart.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That she never saw her Dad's body was turned completely positively around as a hope that he may still exist somewhere, someplace, in the heavenly ether.

Ms. Warchola must have cried on every page. I was a very painful book.

Good beginners NLP book.

Very good and solid explanation of NLP, with lots of examples. If ypu know NLP, then it's not much new.

A personal touch to the content and it makes it more easy to see one self compared to NLP.

But a great beginners NLP book!

An Exercise in Trite and Hackneyed Expressions

The author tries to cram every tired platitude and cliché in the English language into one book. It would have been more interesting if the work was more focused on the subject, NLP. Disappointing that Audible is charging money for something like this.

Directionless and obviously not written for audio

Seemingly written by a wannabe 'guru', who steers away from science and instead takes the path of patronising philosophy. The book obviously isn't intended for audio, often branching into endless lists of information which lacks direction and soon becomes a bore to follow.

NLP is a fascinating subject but this book certainly doesn't capture it. The overwhelming desire of the author to impart his social wisdom drowns out the books presumed intention.

On a more positive note, the narrator is fairly enthusiastic!

Most books on self hypnosis are generally one of two types, they either present a basic induction followed by a number of scripts or they tend to be quite theoretical with a focus on the technical aspects of hypnosis. Clear, challenging, and relevant

In the middle of buying thumbtacks and writing paper in prep for a new semester, I ordered "How to Stay Christian in College." It's been a convicting, practical, and refreshing read. Everything a fresh-from-high-school graduate (or, in fact, anyone who comes into contact with non-Christians in the workplace, home front, or classroom) needs to know about living a passionate, Christ-centered life in a secular setting. Evangelism, lifestyles, influences, campus social life, campus religious life, how to deal with vehemently non-Christian professors, how to answer questions, and other practical things like studying and relationships are all covered.

Most importantly, though, J. Budziszewski is very clear that our lives are meant to glorify God in every aspect. He takes time to illustrate who God is, what He thinks of us as His children, and that His power alone will bring His glory on the earth. Budziszewski details how we can bring God's glory to our college campus, and I really benefited from reading his suggestions. Honestly, this book will be one of the best preparations you can undertake to get ready for college anywhere (Christian campuses included). Highly recommended!

This book is an excellent one for Christian students (and their parents) heading off to college--especially secular colleges where they will be exposed to ideas antithetical to their beliefs. This book covers subjects that students ought to think about before they get to college, like politics, love & sex, campus life, interacting with unbelieving friends and professors. The author lays out the issues and provides practical ways to interact with others. And it gives good advice about how to become more mature in Christian faith.

Fingernails on a blackboard....

I cannot stress enough to anyone interested in this book that they listen to several minutes of the sample before they buy.

Unfortunately, Audible would not let me review just the narrator; as for the content of the book, I'm going to let my Kindle read me the free ebook version of this instead - it has to sound better than this.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Law and the Word?

Troward reveals the two aspects of Creation, without which either could not operate.

Think of it as a beautiful performance car. But the car needs a driver- You!

LIsten first! I wish I had!

Goodness knows I wish this young reader all the best, but Thomas Troward was NOT a good choice for his artistic style. Troward's writing is extremely deep and ponderous. It takes all you have just to keep up with the somewhat elaborate and old-fashioned vocabulary. But what he has to convey is so important, it's worth the effort.

I think a man or woman with a more mature voice, well versed in proper pronunciation at least of the English language, let alone the French and Latin quotes Troward throws around, (and without the impediment of what sounds like an occasional smack at chewing gum or perhaps a lollipop), would have been a better choice.

Mr Cousin's talent would have been better served with far, far lighter fare than this book. As a young character in any of Dicken's lighter works, or a Wodehouse-style domestic, or a even a Hobbit, he would shine. But letting him at Troward was a judgement error of epic proportions.

The fact that I must listen to this many times to get the true gist of what the author was trying to teach makes it that much more trying.
