âWhat an adventure they had on that day, when Dover had all of his friends there to play. â

San Diego, California Author Leela Hope studied English Literature at Berkeley, earning a degree in 1989. Her writing covers a span of several genres, but she always returns to her first love, children's fiction. And it is there that her star shines brightest. Always finding something unique on which to base her stories, she makes each tale a learning experience for children as well as offering some pointers for parenting!

Using her gift for rhyming verse Leela relates the story of the little Bear Dover who asks permission to have his friends come to his home to play. His mother consents and Clara Cat, Joey Bear, and Pat the Pup come over to be creative in play. They build a big ship out of a pile of wood, and in their imagination the ship is out to sea â and pirates are coming! The pirates disembark into the yard â and Dover and his friends pause for a break (of course the pirates and Blackbeard disappear). After break the friends all sail to France and were back for tea â and reality. Fine proof for children that adventures can happen in your own backyard.

The story is excellent but this time there are no illustrations or photographs â just an out of focus camera with an accompanying red triangle with an exclamation point! Perhaps in the next edition Leela will correct this rather jarring aspect of an otherwise successful story. This is yet another winner from Leela Hope. Grady Harp, January 17

NOTE: The disturbing lack of illustrations in the early form of the book was apparently a glitch in production. I purchased the book again and the illustrations are now present and excellent - changing my rating to 5 stars

Great for a quick story and gives a great message about being able anything being possible if you just imagine it.

This was the perfect book for my two year old granddaughter. She cannot sit long to listen to a story and this is a cute little quick story.

It just so happens that my granddaughter loves polka dots and the images in this story are all made up of all dots of colors. My granddaughter seemed to really like this.

There are not rules that everything has to be a certain color and you can make the trees multi-color if you want. You can imagine anything and make it come true. What a nice encouraging book for kids!

Not that great

This book was overly simplistic even for a child. I expected it to be more imaginative for a children's book on law of attraction. The illustrations also weren't that great. I feel like this book blew its potential and really missed the mark.

Gross Greg ... Get if for the youngsters in your life

I purchased this children's book for my two nephews. The youngest, Ryder had me read it over and over laughing the entire time until he fell asleep. The next morning when he awoke the first thing he went for was his Gross Greg book. He wanted to read the story again. Needless to say, Ryder has fallen in love with this light-hearted children's book.

As an educator I feel this book hits its mark...getting boys hooked on reading at an early age.

Gross Greg is a hit in our house, bet it will be a hit in your house as well!

Light-hearted and Funny

Even though the subject is a little gross, it is very light-hearted and funny. A quick read for little kids about a topic all kids can relate to, some one they know who sneaks and eats boogers.

My kids absolutely loved this book

My kids absolutely loved this book. My oldest, age 6, uses it to practice reading. My youngest, age 3, loves anything that is considered gross.

I didn't like that it doesn't teach Greg to not be gross

Cute book overall

Five Stars

My granddaughter loves it!

Loads of laughs & imagination!

So so very much enjoyed reading these with my 6 yr old.... maybe even more than she did!! Haha!! Author has done a great job with creating easy to read verse using simple playful language that kids connect to. As a parent who's #1 job is raising my child (including all the do's & don'ts, reminders, lessons, disciplines, etc)... I enjoy the chance to giggle & be silly with my lil one and this book gave us just that. Whimsical, out of the box, clever, and a theraputic switch from the same ol.

Title: When the Animals Don't Want to Eat

Length: 4 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-17-16

Publisher's Summary:

The animals are back! This delightful series tells the story of what happens when the animals, like many young children, don't want to wash, eat, sleep, behave, share, go to school, take their medicine, or get vaccinated. In the second episode, we talk about the importance of eating. Our little listeners will find that their favorite animals don't want to eat: "No, no, no...I don't want to eat!"

What can we do about it? There is something special about this new book and one can only imagine how much it can benefit to so many children because of the very message it conveys about eating and food learning for children. The book will also please all the parents who struggle with their little ones at lunch or dinner time.
