This wasn't the result of chance or a lucky win on the horses: Tony planned for it, and so can you.

Title: Drinking My Way Through 14 Online Dating Websites

    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 2.5 of 5 out of 12 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
Sick of feeling heartbroken over her most recent breakup and underwhelmed by the rest of her life, Tiffany Peón decided to embark on a social experiment. Over the course of one year, she used 14 different online dating sites including Craigslist, speed dating, and The Atlasphere, a site for fans of Ayn Rand. Through drunken interactions with strangers, she learned the ins and outs of the online dating world and eventually found her way back to the relationship that started it all.
    Editorial Reviews:
Sick of heartbreak and bodega sandwiches, Tiffany Peón decided that the best antidote to a crappy year was to go on dates using 14 different online dating services, from Craigslist to Blendr. Narrator Mia Chiaromonte adds a slightly acerbic edge to her warm, likeable voice as she performs Tiffany's stories about fumbling through dates, including one with a foot fetishist and several with men who look very different from their photographs. Tiffany learns a lot about the online dating world through her drunken interactions, and Chiaromonte expresses her youthful jadedness with relish.
    Members Reviews:
    Amusing and Sarcastic
Tiffany Peon's writing is humorous and Mia Chiaromonte uses a droll understated tone to convey the essence of the words. As this genre of book practically mandates a snarky, sarcastic tone there are times when the author's rendition of these dates can come off as unkind; if not cruel. On the other hand her humor is understated and there doesn't seem to be many gratuitous shots taken at the men. Interwoven into this scenario is the author's resumption of her affair with her ex boyfriend Chris. Given the cost this audio is an excellent listening choice if you desire 105 minutes of entertaining escapism.

I was so disappointed in this book
    Any additional comments?
I hated this book. I bought this book because I just lost one of my beloved cats, Marbles, and I was hoping a book like this would help me with my grief. It did not. The narrator's accent grated on my nerves, the choices the "human" makes on behalf of her cats often angered me.I had 5 cats (now 4) and I volunteer for animal organizations. I just wanted the human to make Dulcy an indoor-only cat so the awful things that happened to her would stop happening! It was only 2.5 hours, so I finished it, but I would not recommend this book.
    Nausiatingly Bad
Dulcy's Tale is a "story" told from the point of view of Dulcy, a cat. That is in interesting idea, but kind of flawed. The main problem with this is that it forces the cat to "talk" about his owner, and then that quickly turns into self-congratulatory drivel on the writer's part.
I listened for about an hour to this non-story until I couldn't take anymore. It's really awful. First off, it's in no way a story. It's just a bunch of mundane events (the owner going to work, a trip to the vet, etc etc) told in an equally mundane way. There is no antagonist/protagonist, no conflict, and no growth of the main characters. So in no-way a story. Secondly, the reader is REAL hard to listen to. Just this real "girly" sugar-sweet voice that makes me want to rech.
I'm a big cat lover, I love "A Streetcat Named Bob" and "Cat Daddy", but not this rubbish. I would recommend one of those books or even one of the "chicken soup" cat books long before this one.

WOW, I could not put this book down!
I'm not typically a book reader, but I ordered this book after hearing about it on chosen4media talk radio. I will attach a link. I heard Alvin Dawkins talking about how he had a life changing event and he was able to over come. He encouraged me just by listening to him talk about how it was like he went to sleep one day, and when he woke up he was on the moon and needed to change in order to live. This book is a thriller yet it teaches you to stay positive regardless of what life throws at you. I heard Alvin say it may become a movie, I really hope so. I recommend this book to everyone and will be following him on his site www.Alvindawkins.com. He also has recorded broadcasts at www.blogtalkradio.com/chosen4media. Great info, Great book, Great guy! Truly Insightful
I have a doctorate in psychology and have a lot of exposure to this topic area. I bought this book some time ago and it has been sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me to get a little spare time to read. Now that I've read it I wish I could go back in time and have read it earlier. There are a lot of books out there that deal with the topic of co-dependence and addiction, but I have yet to see such a deep and sensitive treatment of the subject. Even as someone who has read a lot in this area, I found new ideas and frames of reference which helped me personally. I would recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with the addiction of a love one. In fact I would probably recommend this book for pretty much anyone since we are all impacted, in various ways, by the addiction behaviors of others. This is a truly excellent book.
    Highly recommended
For the friends and family of addicts, LEARNING TO BE YOU, IT'S AN INSIDE JOB by Brenda Ehrler, throws a first-hand lifeline to those living with substance abuse. For over nine years, Brenda lived with a practicing substance abuser. Here she shares her experience, strength, and hope as one who has learned to live beyond her loved one's addictions.
Brenda offers comfort, not in a situational list of do's and don'ts, but in how to heal one's inside, which is the only way to truly affect change in one's life. Written with all the compassion and knowledge of one who not only survived an addict, but came out the other side in learning her own life lessons, Brenda shows how to use that experience to become a fulfilled, happy person.
Brenda shows how to go from reacting to the circumstances of one's life to taking responsibility for one's life, and manifesting the kind of life previously only dreamed of. She shows how happiness isn't created by external pleasures, contrary to our cultural belief. Instead, happiness in manifested from the inside out, beginning with finding each person's own spiritual center. Connecting to a Higher Power of one's individual understanding allows one to reach beyond self-imposed limitations. How? By learning to change our belief systems, and values. By substituting self love and self acceptance for self indulgence and control. By taking responsibility for one's actions and replacing negative self talk with positive affirmations.
A veteran of self-help books, I found LEARNING TO BE YOU, IT'S AN INSIDE JOB to be one of the healthiest approaches to family recovery I have encountered.

Title: Chicken Soup for the Soul of America: Stories to Heal the Heart of Our Nation

    Narrator: Bernard Setaro Clarke
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 43 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-28-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
Most American heroes aren't in our history books, nor do they have monuments erected in their honor. Their names aren't in the headline news or memorialized in song. The true hero is simply someone who makes a difference - large or small - in the lives of others. They battle disease, crime, poverty and human-rights violations. They clean up environments, mentor neglected children and truly care about others. Most importantly, anyone can be a hero in the eyes of another.
In Chicken Soup for the Soul of America, everyday heroes are celebrated. Heroes have always been in our midst, but the recent terrorist attacks on American soil have revealed many more heroes who have given their lives, love, time and strength to those in great need. In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 events, Americans have found courage and inspiration from so many heroes, and this book pays tribute to them all, as well as those who appear every day in our lives.
At a time when so many are in pain, these unique stories will touch listeners with love and wisdom, the cornerstones of the American people and the hallmark of the well-loved Chicken Soup series.
    Editorial Reviews:
Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, a great sense of fear, anger, and distrust filled Americans, but also a sense of hope and unity. Whether it's the servicemen and women who were sent to fight overseas, or the first responders to the World Trade Center attacks, or the regular everyday people who helped their neighbors grieve, the country saw no shortage of bravery, as Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen show in this moving collection. Bernard Setaro Clarke gives an appropriately solemn performance that gives these accounts an even greater gravitas, helping to make this an inspiring listen.

Thank you Jack Canfield! Who does not like any of the Chicken Soup books???
This is heartwarming as well as uplifting and insightful.
    Great item!
Came very quickly, and was in great shape - thanks!
I dropped off this book with some snacks and a note of thanks to a local fire department, as a random act of kindness.
I hope they enjoyed it :)
Chicken Soup for the Soul of America
I love all the Chicken Soup books. This is one of my favorites. America is a great country And I enjoy reading such positive experiences.
    Pass on this book
This is the first one of these "Chicken Soup" books that I have read. The first half of the book was quite good. And past that, there were far more misses than hits. And though some of these stories were interesting few were inspirational and none soothed my soul. Not even close. And there was a skew towards stories from a Jewish point of view which was far out of proportion. Hardly any talk of those who enlisted to join the fight. I will not be buying another one of this type of book for myself or others.

    Publisher's Summary:
Have you ever wondered what it might be like to join the military? Grant's book details the difficulties of Basic Training during the largest recruitment rush in history. Suicides were prominent because soldiers were unable to pass the initial PT test that would get them into Basic Training - and what most recruiters won't say is that there's a place known as Reception where all soldiers begin their journey. Many never make it out, some stay for months, trying to pass the PT test. For them, the only way out is to convince the Army that they're too crazy to be a valuable soldier... or suicide.
There was also an entire society of LURD's - lesbians until release date that had established firm control and were unafraid of the consequences. In fact, many of them wanted to get caught, even if it meant a dishonorable discharge, because at least that got them out of the Army.
Lesbians, Crutches, and Suicides: A Soldier's Story takes a listener into the heart of Basic Training, with personal elements of what the experience of becoming a soldier is like. Grant's perspective is peppered with personal narrative and letters sent home.

Interesting little gems of being a transit operator and keeping calm.
The stories gave me an insight into a how a MUNI operator can stay centered and put up with the characters and bureaucracy in this city. Doug getting frustrated over tissue paper seniors were wrapping their coins in. Then he found out why. Seeing from another's perspective gave new insight. I recalled this found an answer to a frustrating situation that irritated me. I got back in the Zen zone. I am looking forward to the second book.
    A fun and enjoyable book
As neither a muni rider or driver, I was fascinated by the authors observations about the transit system, people, and his own journey to enlightenment as a muni driver. Author Douglas merriweather's attention to details, quest for understanding, and self reflection provides practical advice for muni drivers and riders that will help make their muni experience more enjoyable. For the rest of us, this book is an enjoyable look inside and a reminder that within our daily routine is a complex system of mechanical and personal interactions. Stopping, to understand the why behind people's action, the nuances of a process, and our own reaction and responses can change the way we approach simple challenges each day.
Have you ever wondered why some folks carry their change in a tissue? How does pocket lint slow transit service? The answer to these questions and many others found in the book had me looking at my own daily routine and asking how I could help myself and everyone around me have a better day. I might have even lol a few times while reading this.
    FACINATING. WORTH READING. EYE OPENER
I have always admired companies who practice customer satisfaction daily - such as Disney and Apple. Never did I link customer satisfaction to a metro trolley operation, much less their drivers.
Douglas Meriwether's book FINDING ZEN IN SAN FRANCISCO TRANSIT introduced me to his trials and tribulationsl before finding the art of pleasing over 100 trolley passengers - a changing cast from block to block - in downtown SF on a daily basis!!!
He showed me the workings of the SF Municipal Railway from a 14 year perspective gained mostly by OJT. Very enlightening.
I had no idea of the stress levels drivers must be under as they learn their ropes during the crush of a major metro rush hour or special event with a 60 foot vehicle filled with angry and frustrated riders.
Congrats to Doug for mastering that!!
Heartily recommend the book!! Fast Read.

    ,Description inaccurate
This is a short story about a woman who was happily married. Her sons loved their dad, and he loved them. However, everything changed in a moment one day as he was killed.
The description says, "and out of the blue.... You lose it all." She didn't lose it all. She lost her husband and her normal (as her family had known it). But she still had a part of him left to love - a big part of him. A most precious part.
This is okay, but he has written better. This was just a telling of what happened so long ago. Not a tear jerker, but still enjoyable. What happened to her family will most likely not happen to you or me (in the same way), but anyone of us could face the same heartache. Would we be able to carry on as well as this woman did?
Not a tear jerker, but it can still touch your heart and still make you think. Did you remember to tell your family that you love them as everyone went their own way today? Best not forget it next time: you never know when you will be saying the last thing you will ever say to them.
